Final Four Teams

P-R-O-G-R-A-M....This sets some schools apart from others...Some teams have years where they are loaded, and STILL won't win the region...Thats because it also has a lot to do with timing, bracket, and honestly, things just have to go right for you on que..Meaning, your best player can't be injured in gthe 2nd round game, when its supposed to be "your year"...Things like that...Hope that helped.. ;)

It's also breaks!  Bad refereeing, bad matchups, untimely mistakes, kids getting injured or sick, and as others have mentioned, peaking at the right time.

Take Kountze!  Those guys found the right time to peak.  I think the same goes for Ozen.

When you consider Matchups, Silsbee probably would have gone further last year if they would have been in the 2nd place bracket (and not run into Sealy).

Peaking at the right time.. good coaching
You're also right.  Good players will get you there, sometimes!  Good coaches will keep getting you back to there.  After HJ won state, they went through 4 consecutive "rebuilding years" and yet they kept going to Regionals and even back to state once.

IMO one of the biggest things that is missing off this list is chemistry. If you have a team full of 3 star players and 2 star players that have great chemistry with a great coach and a team that has one 4 or 5 star player and the rest are not that good but they don't have team unity, i will pick the team with good chemistry over the other.

Don't see anything easy about the route that HJ too last year.  Huffman, Stafford and then Cleveland!!!!  Sealy was the 2nd place team in District 24-3A last year.  Stafford was 1st!!!  Whom HJ defeated in the Area Round.  But I get your point.  Just saying that HJ's route last year was much tougher than what Silsbee had or would have had.

And this is something that is overlooked at..... Dickie V alert!...... Yates.  I mean, Coach Wise has all these studs and he is able to keep the team together as a cohesive unit.  I mean, two years ago, weren't there some non-starters that went D1?!?!?  How do you convince a kid that knows he's a D1 talent that his role on the team will be coming off the bench?  Granted, Yates' bench is better than 99% of the rest of the state, but still.......
Agreed.  The last 3 or 4 years, HJ's road has been rockier to Hunstville on the whole.  But Silsbee ran into a poor matchup (from what I remember reading on these boards) against Sealy.

Stafford and Cleveland would have posed the same matchup issues with Silsbee last year.
Maybe.  I'm not sure if the stud from Stafford and the Beast from Cleveland were quite as good as Jones from Sealy.  Silsbee did have some height that could tangle with them.

But we'll never know the answer, will we?

Match ups weren't the Tigers sole problem with Sealy last year.  Their fans said it was the best they played all year. Add the fact that Coach Williams was not able to come out for the second half(with the Tigers leading by 3),  which had to have some affect on his players not to mention in Coaching(one less brain) and you have an equation that the Tigers weren't able to overcome.

Therefore, you have matchups, bad breaks, illnesses and a team peaking at the right time. And I am sure there were some bad calls in there as well. ;D  WOW,  it took a lot to beat those Tigers last year!!!!  ;) ;)

Regional and State.... What sets them apart from other teams? Some teams never get that far while with others it seems to be the norm. There are some obvious reasons, talent, etc....whats involved that doesn't meet the eye?
PROGRAM, nearly every school has athletes, well not every school but a lot of teams who aren't very good have talent, but it's the coach, program, tradition and all of that, that factors in to making it to state, the year Liberty played HJ in the playoffs Liberty was up at the half but HJ found a way to get it done, and I believe HJ was better the team also, but it was the heart and determination of those players that let them pull away, they just don't see themselves losing in the first round, while Liberty was just happy to be there, traditon has a lot to do with it, I think that's why we see a lot of the same teams every year in the playoffs, Navasota, Colspring, Silsbee, HJ,Cleveland, Athens, Fairfield, Lufkin Hudson, Sealy...all these teams seem to make it to the area and regional rounds every year.

I saw the Sealy game, and I see Cleveland play twice every year, most of the time 3 times when they can make it to the round they usually play HJ, and IMO Seals-Jones is better than the guy from Cleveland.
