3A-CC-Coach Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 Congrats to conference 4A and 5A, as their superintendents voted to move thier racing distance up to 5K!Conference In Favor of Increase Opposed to Increase1A 97 2072A 85 943A 77 814A 111 745A 126 75
JSnipes Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 I think it will be fine for 4A and 5A. I'm glad 3A went against it. We would have a tough time keeping our numbers up if they were running another 1.1
Cheermom4 Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 We are training our 8 year old to be a runner since she loves it so much. She is doing her first 5K in a couple of weeks. She won't run the whole thing but I am sure she will run a bunch of it.
3A-CC-Coach Posted February 29, 2012 Author Report Posted February 29, 2012 I will start entering my girls in more 5Ks. I think 3A will move up in a few years. It was a very close vote. The schools that are succesful in CC are probably already running enough miles in training to prepare for a 5K race. Hopefully it will happen soon.
BCdkru Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 After all the years of voting it finally happened! I thought I would never see the day.
mytwocents-28 Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 so girls track will now run a 5K at track meets? Is that what this means?

dayton Posted March 1, 2012 Report Posted March 1, 2012 This is a good move for any girl who hopes to move on and run in college. This'll help 3a and under indirectly, by making those longer races available to help them gain exposure.
