AggiesAreWe Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 A kid can play any high school sport at the age of 19 as long as he doesn't turn 19 before Sept. 1st. He can turn 19 on Sept. 2nd and be eligible to run track at the state meet in June.
MBaller#1 Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 I was impressed with kingwood park being able to hold Yates to 68 points after Yates put up all those points against other schools no body will be afraid or intimidated of Yates if they ate then Yates has already won,win or lose if the tigers get to play them Silsbee will be ready, can't wait to Silsbee schedule next year it will probably be extremely rough.

This is also construed as UIL recruiting rules. :D

Lazeek Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 A high school player MAY ONLY PLAY 4 YEARS regardless of when you turn 19.

Giddings had a player play 5 years, Fitzhenry. Just ask the WOS folks about him. ;)
WOSgrad Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 In order to answer the question regarding Chris Elam's eligibility, which would effect Silsbee basketball next year. The following is the entry from the UIL Basketball Manual, p. 28:"Subject to the other eligibility rules of the UIL Constitutionand Contest Rules, an individual is eligible to participate in a League varsity athletic contest as a representative ofa participant school if that individual is less than 19 years old on September 1 preceding the contest..."

AggiesAreWe Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Fitzhenry of Giddings played 5 years of high school football.

ANY high school kid gets 8 semesters to play...WE were hit by that rule when one of my teammates that was actually SKIPPED up a grade from 7th to 9th, wanted that year back, but was told he could only be eligible for 8 semesters.

Lazeek Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 you will have to win an appeal with the UIL to play a 5th year and those rarely go through unless there are extenuating circumstancesWOS Grad you can post all the rules you want....you get four years....once you enter high school all you get is four years

If a player can play sports until he is 20, Chris will have no problem.

Lazeek Posted March 6, 2012 Report Posted March 6, 2012 Chris is a great player. I hope for him he gets to play.
