My question to those who don't believe that "real" basketball is played in the 2A/1A ranks:

Did you watch any of the "fake" basketball games in the 1A ranks either yesterday or today?
No.  I actually didn't get a chance to see any games and I won't be able to see the 'real' games either.  I never did call the lower class games fake.  It's really simply a preference.  I prefer the bigger school games in general, therefore, I agreed to BD3 as in calling them 'real'.
Well, if they aren't "real," then by definition, they must be "fake", right?  Don't make me pull out Websters on ya, Soulja!  ;D
Please don't pull it out, Mr. Google!  ;D ;D.  Small schools are not 'fake', but rather not real.  It's somewhere in the middle...  but not fake.  ;)

You are not getting my point.  What I am saying is some of these 1a and 2a teams could give those two a game if not beat them.  So if the 1a 2a teams that can compete with mighty ozen and central than that must not be "real" basketball either!
By you stating that Ozen and Central are 'mighty' and no one made mention of them but you tells me a lot.  ::) ::)

As I've said before, We're not talking about Central or Ozen (seems you're obsessed with talking about them.  Heck, in this conversation, we're not even talking about Silsbee or H-J).  BD3 made mention of calling the Yates/Kimbal and Marcus/Travis games 'real' games.  I agreed.  So, do you understand now?
What makes them 'real games'? The fact that they are more 'athletic' meaning they are better teams?? We've heard that all year long. We even had a thread discussing what factors make a HS kid 'good'. It seems that if one is not 'athletic', then he's not a very good bball player in some's opinions.
Well, you're the one that said it.  ;D ;D 8) 8)

I agree with you.  However by saying the real games implies that the other ones are not.  That bothers me obviously.  I understand that central and ozen are not brought up.  But I brought them up because you and dove are fans of theirs and I was simply making a point.  If you think that is "real" basketball than so are the 1a and 2a state tournament games.
You've never heard me say Ozen , Central , or HJ is mighty or real basketball  :D

I'm referring to Kimball, Ft. bEND Travis, etc, These schools have players who may be future NBA stars. Kentucky ain't looking at no players from White Oak, Clarksville, and whatever other school in 1-a, 2-a, etc.
....  and your response is.....?
His response might be that Natchitoches and Summerfield Lousiana (not real towns, of course) spawned Joe Dumars and Karl Malone and Ames Iowa brought you Harrison Barnes at UNC.  I would mention French Lick but it makes Dove mad.

So, unless there are a multitude of D-1 players on the floor, it is not real basketball?

Good point grad. However, there are a few who seem to think that way.  :-\
I never said more athletic players make a better team or a better game.  You see, I think It's about numbers.  More numbers mean you'll have a beter potential to have your 6'1" guards, your 6'5" forwards and your 6'10" centers.  More numbers mean you have the better chance to have your more better coaching as better coaches tend to move to the higher classifications probably for better pay and a more better variety of talented players.  All this in place, generally speaking, more of the high profiled players going to big D-1 colleges come from Big School, so they tend to have a higher profile than the small schools.  This is not a put down to any of the lower classification schools, but this is indeed the same analogy as Lamar Basketball vs. Duke, UNC, or Kentucky College hoops.

Here's why I like smaller school games, esp at State: 1) the whole town shows up, many with 2-tone, painted faces, even the 3-yr olds....gotta love that spirit. You could burglarize the whole town on game day at State. 2) H-E-A-R-T! the 5'1" pg, the 5'11" posts playing their guts out. They KNOW this is the last time they'll ever wear the blue-and-gold, or red-and-white or whatever, but they'll live in that town forever. No dunks, way less swagga' (ant that's a GOOD thing).

BTW, any 3A fans here wonder if 5A fans say the same derogatory things about y'all? cuz there ain't NO 3A's that can hang with 5A's at State.

are you kidding me small school basketball players should be offended by this topic, if any class is not real its the bigger schools... the smaller schools is where your gonna see your actual BASKETBALL players in big schools its just raw ATHELETS playing basketball, dont get me wrong their good at what they do but your gonna see good fundamental ball and great players in the smaller schools

I guess I just don't get any joy in telling a group of people, competing on a basketball court, giving every last ounce they have, that somehow they are not playing "Real Basketball" whether they are 6' 10" or 5' 10": whether it was a group of special olympians playing or the various groups that play in wheelchairs. Heck instead of cutting them down or insulting them why not just enjoy their effort.

Highschool only sir. The game going on now in the 1st qtr almost 40 points each team and this is just the 1st qtr.
You're the one that brought college into it so its a natural extension to compare to the pros also--and while your calling people midgets lets hear some a few more snide names.
