One has to like Nederland as the "top dog" in this district. A group that includes Helmke, Sampere, McFarland, Mosely, etc. will be tough to beat over the course of the district schedule. It is traditionally a very competitive district and this year should be no different. Following that, PNG should be 2nd with the arms they have although they may suffer from the same defensive lapses that hurt them so bad last year. The race for third could be interesting. Tradition puts LCM in the thick of things and Griff knows how to win. Ozen has an interesting team with 3 legitimate pitchers (Lott, Gardiner and James) but the ongoing question of depth. Vidor should be equally competitive with their group and Kyle Green stirring the mix. I predict a race of upsets for the final playoff spots.

Nederland might be the early favorite in this very competitive district. Beside the players MIF04 mentioned, look for Justin Richard and Josh Cabra to throw some quality innings. PNG could have one of the top pitchers in the district in Shawn Flores. LCM is LCM, enough said.

Vidor can compete with any of the above

PNG will be a very strong contender. They lost a large senior group last year but have some very capable players. The pitching will be better than people think with Harrington, Flores, Carnahan, Mitch Todd and maybe some innings from sophmores Jerin Spikes, Sammy Sparrow and Dylan Harrison. Also sophmore Austin Sangster could move into the catcher's position if Carnahan makes the move into the pitching rotation. This team will be better defensively than last years team. They should be much improved on the offensive side too.
