55 Why is hodges already out at wos?
No clue.
WOSgrad, what offense was Coach Hodges running?

It really has to do with the fact that the offense Hodges runs simply was not compatable with the type of athletes at WO-S.  Nothing against Coach Hodges, it is just you realize sometimes a bit too late that styles don't fit.

Attempted? WOS went three rounds deep with a new coach, new offense, etc. I would say he successfully installed the I formation. Look at the stats. WOS put up as much offense this past year as they have averaged over the past several years.

That was after the I formation was tabled and WO-S went back to the spread.

Word has it that Superintendent Huckabay will recommend Josh Finney of Mesquite Poteet to the board to be the next H-D HC/AD
Thanks for the update WOSgrad. You have any info on Josh Finney?
Greetings from northeast Tx. as you can see this is the first time I have posted. I just wanted you Bobcat fans to realize how fortunate you are to have Coach Finney. He took what was called "the worst job" in coaching and made that program a powerhouse in 1A. Maud was the laughinstock of Northeast Tx football, winning 5 games in 4 years (one of those a forfeit) and procceeded to compile a 38-11 record reaching the state quarterfinals and state sem-finals, four district championships (lost 1 district game in four years!!). The off season/summer workouts will develop athletes, not just football players, in that same time span the baseball team captured 2 district championships and went deep in the playoffs every year, basketball made the playoffs for the first time in many years and the track team won two district championships, two area championships and sent two to state, powerlifting teams also were started and did great...and don't worry about the girls side either, he expects the same hard work on their side...the softball team made it to the state tourn. won district twice and girls track excelled. He believes in hard work and demands it from the coaches and athletes...if they will buy in to his program and work HD will be very sucessful again.
He also turned around a Teague program that had gone 2-8 to 7-3 and made the playoffs...he and the supe didn't see eye to eye so he went to Mesquite Potteet...the years after Coach Finney left, Maud has returned to below average and Teague did the same thing...both teams NOT making the playoffs after he left. BUT the best thing about Coach is the kids will absolutely love him!! And he wil develop young men of character, not just great athletes!! You guys should be getting extremely excited down there!!! My son was fortunate enough to have him for his coach and that was one of the main reasons that he is playing college ball now. Best of luck to the Bobcats and Coach Finney!!

How many athletes did he have in the programs, if I am not mistake H-D only has about 30 boys total and not all play Football.
I can't say for sure, but when my son was a JR, we moved to Maud from Shepherd. His 1st two weeks in Maud he played on the JV team that had 12 players. I think that left about 17 on the Varsity. Coach Finney took 11 and 12 kids to JV games many times just so they could play, and play they did. Our two seasons with coach were the best. I remember what he told my son the 1st time we met him, "I can't guarantee how much you will play, but you are in for the time of your life". The 1st year there he didn't play a lot, but his Sr year he hardly came off the field, and he did have the time of his life. You guys are getting a good one.

Well from what this guy is saying, congratulations HD on a great hire. They may not be very talented, they may not have many athletes, they may have never been able to beat Liberty  ;), but I can say that the football players in HD always seem to have great work ethic when it comes to the game, the only aspect of HD that I wish Liberty had is that work ethic, not so much this last season but in general at least they have that.
Great post!! I am fired up to have this Coach after hearing all this. H-D had about 30 players last year. But we also had about 12-15 boys that would not play for the old Coaching staff. The genetics are still in H-D, along with pride and tradition. Just need to put it all together. I hope Coach Finney realizes the history of H-D football.

I apologize for being so long winded but I figured you guys need and want to know what you are getting. I know I would if I still had one playing!! One more thing, he will work to get your kids name out to as many college coaches as he possibly can. We had 3 from Maud (small school D-1) go D-1 (TCU) and are still playing and my son is at a D-2 school. He has lots of contacts and has a great reputation among the college coaches. They know the kids he sends them will work and will not have an attitude. I just can't stress enough how good his weight/speed and quickness program is and how it will help ALL the programs. Boys and girls. Again, best of luck and if you have any other questions please feel free to ask them. Will be glad to help anyway I can.

HDbobcat55 How can u say H-D has always had better athletes than liberty? how many bobcats played D-1 college football? Liberty has had countless. Douglous (florida), Mallett (arkansas), Arnold (Texas), Chambers (purdue), White (ok state./ Jaxonville Jaguars/Green Bay Packers), Melton (tx. State). There are more than that, that  is just all i can think of. Has have yall ever had a davision 1 athlete in bobcat land?

You guys are getting one of the best young coach's in football.
I know Coach Finney personally, great work ethic and the kids will run through a wall for him.
Just wait till you see his off-season program and his summer work outs.

Congrats H-D

Well, let's make sure that he is hired first.  Yes, he is supposed to the superintendent's recommendation.  However, we have seen at other places this year that both school board and candidate saying yes seems to be a little more difficult than it would initially appear.

HD Bobcat55 your insane. I can almost see your argument that HD has had better teams in the past, but more athletes? There is no way. As a 4 then a 3a we've had way more athletes than HD, I can honestly say there is more athletes on the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 panther teams than in HD's history, with Ryan Melton 6ft6 260 D1 Commited to Texas State, 6ft o linemen Jon Lacefield Commited to Texas Lutheran, 6ft6 219 pound qb Daniel fitzwater, 6ft3 sophomore WR Aaron Mosley, 6ft4 TE Jake Vaught ( offers at the next level but may take an academic route) Jordan Jones(no need to tell you about him you should already know) 300 pound d tackle Omar tebo went to state in powerlifting in the highest weight class, a lot of talent here at liberty whether or not Huffman and Cleveland want to acknowledge that is their own problem because if Deel can get these guys together they will be dangerous, also Dionte Robinson has speed like no other he would our run Chisholm Marberry with boots on, and unlike you I have seen all of these guys play as well as all of the 2010-2011 Bobcats.
