Gladiator Program vs. USSSA

Supposedly the entire Beaumont Gladiator program is banned from USSSA and any associated tournaments...please explain.  Maybe some bad blood???
[/quote]
If this is true then it will really hurt the younger Elite teams and the older teams since they rely more on USSSA to play tournaments.

But I thought usssa would never do that? They are "all about the kids", right VP93? Seems usssa has a personal vendetta against Morgan Walker. Why would they suspend all Gladiator teams, when he only coaches 14u? Why would they suspend any FAMILY member of his? Maybe VP93, 2 sons playing, or MJB can help me out and answer some of these question. Is it because usssa isn't thriving in Beaumont?

i doubt that usssa has banned a team just becuz of a person or becuz of playing nations baseball.im sure if the gladiators sign up for a u-trip tourney they will take their team & money with a smile.all this supposedly & i heard bulls**t is like a group of jr. high girls flapping their lips. gladiator program if thats what u want to call it,isnt going to make or break an organization the size of usssa.u guys just need to shut up & just play baseball in whatever organization u want.

Gladiators /Nations-  have  been trying to kill Usssa in Bmt. since it started..... Several times the Nations tournament director in Bmt. has offered my son's team discounts,  if we only play Nations tournaments at Ford Park.  So we are only allowed to play Usssa tournaments in other areas.

Also I have a close coworker that is an umpire who was cordially threatened to not work Usssa gamrumores.  Which is ridiculous! ...........Facts not  rumor

What do you mean you are only "allowed" to play usssa tournaments in other areas? What would happen if you played one locally?

What happened, did a Gladiator team show up to a USSSA tourney and pass out Nations flyers or something?    I am with Rounder, seems there was an argument several weeks back about how USSSA is for the kids!  Tillery offers discounts so why cant Morgan.  Seems like a business decision to me.

Usssa has been trying to kill nations also. Every time nations put on a tournament in Lake Charles last year, usssa went and offered one the same weekend for $100. Tillerys' tournaments are $200. Discount you say? What's the difference? How can you say Gladiators are trying to kill usssa? If I remember correctly, Morgan switched from Usssa to Nations, years ago. I like how they inform me on a Wednesday that we can't play in the tournament we are signed up for this weekend, after telling me Tuesday that we could play. But hey, it's justifiable for anyone that "does it for the kids" right? Look at for the new usssa team named the GT Cobras.

kf89, I heard that the 11 U Gladiator team got notice today that they were removed from the USSSA tournament at Big League Dreams for this weekend.  So, it is real and its too bad that the children are the ones who suffer from USSSA's decision! What did these kids do to deserve this? So, it does appear that the Gladiators tried to support USSSA by registering and attempting to play in one of their tournaments. Who has taken the high road here, not USSSA!

You wanna know how their trying to kill the (local) usssa, just ask some of the coaches, umpires and workers! It's been told to local teams, that they will get a discount from (local) nations tournaments and the baseball academy, if they don't play in ANY of the (local) usssa tournaments. Fact, its been offered to me and my team.

Umpires have been told because they umpire for usssa (local) they want be asked to umpire in nations. Fact, its happen to me also.

I only know of one but im sure there are more but it was told to one of the workers who worked for both usssa and nations that if he worked another usssa tournament he would not be used at nations again.

So ask yourself who took the high road!

I don't agree in the whole kicking out the teams though. Looks like both failed on that part. Kick the coach out not the team!

If you think usssa isn't offering discounts your blind. Go find me some other tournaments that cost $100-$200. As for the workers out there, I don't think Nations or usssa controls who works a concession stand, or on a field.
Knucklehead, 11u gladiators did get an e-mail today stating that. That's okay though, they found a Nations event that was full, and Nations bent over backwards to get them in. That's what people who "do it for the kids" do.

No one said concessions stand or on the fields. The workers who go around picking up trash and doing other things. It's obvious you work for Morgan or Coach one of his teams so you should know whats going on.

So those workers don't work for smg? I don't know, that's why I'm asking.
Why don't you answer my other question? Why does usssa put on discounted tournaments of a $100, on weekends that nations have tournaments there? Are they trying to run nations out of there? Seems to be the same thing to me.

Stop yelling at me.

Good luck to Morgan and the Gladiators. My son was fortunate enough to play for him and Jed. They are 1st class!

If you wanna know something about why usssa has done what they done or why there cheaper, call your local director, he has giving you his number on another post. Pick up the phone and call.

not many to choose from on a Wednesday afternoon but it appears that the 11U team found an alternative tourney with Nations, so it will all be okay. I suppose they know not to offer its support to USSSA anymore!  Play Ball!

Just remember, NATIONS has done the same thing.
You and rounder17 thought it was funny, takeing jabs at 2sonsplaying for the same thing happening to his team.
KARMA, it sucks.

First of all I have never taken jabs at 2 sons playing for that, it was VP93. Second, totally different situation. The vipers coach got caught handing out usssa tournament flyers at a nations tournament in Houston, and was escorted out. Therefore, his team got suspended by nations. I can assure you, the Gladiator coach has not been caught doing that. So since you obviously know so much, tell me THE REASON all Gladiator teams got suspended from usssa.

    • This is good info. It doesn’t really break out for student athletes though. LP & (I think) DP are open enrollment because of the way the towns intertwine. That’s the way it’s been for many years anyway. I assume it still is that way. The kids have a choice after Jr. High to go to either High School because LPISD has elementary schools in DP. As I recall, DP didn’t want to build out more (Robin Hood issues), and so DPISD & LPISD came to an arrangement because LPISD is one of the highest givers to Robin Hood in the state, and it helped both keep more funds in district. Of course, LPISD is open to all. Not just DP, and LPISD is rated well. So, I assume they have kids from elsewhere also. Not positive though. They used to have a lot because—for decades—DeWalt was the only dedicated public school in the GHA that specifically catered to special needs kids. Families from all over enrolled. But, they didn’t participate in extracurricular activities like sports. So, LP’s total enrollment made them 6A. But, they were really a 5A school all along for sports program sake. This is all as best as I can recall from when I was more involved in school issues. I’m sure a lot has changed since then. My kids have been out for 20 years.
    • Our playoff rivalry. They hold a 6-5 edge in the series. I think Newton continues the win streak in a hard fought contest. What say y’all?
    • Has Elmo gotten his aggy premature extension yet?  Pay him already because you guys were exactly right - he really does “get you.” 😂🤣
    • It’s been awhile, but I seem to remember 5 D starters out & 2 O starters out (OL). A big difference is that Simon wasn’t involved yet. He’s totally changed LP’s rushing attack from last year as a bruising, explosive addition to Barnes, Sandolph & Bright. Last year—and early this season—LP was missing that element. Now, Coach Berneathy is not making talented players wait like many other coaches & even his predecessors at LP. If the kid can produce at the varsity level, they’re moved up. And man, has Simon produced! Over 1200 yards & 20 TD’s in less than a full season so far! It’s allowed LP to alternate RB’s where Barnes doesn’t take all the pounding. Barnes and Sandolph are also able to split out as receivers as desired to add threats that weren’t really an option last year. The PNG/LP game was a full-on tilt & good for both squads. I remember Gary Joseph in the end zone giving his son pointers as an extra set of eyes since he’d had experience with LP in past PO matchups. That was a good game. The score wasn’t really indicative of the game. Not sure anyone felt it was over until the final whistle! Good luck to y’all in Cajun Country. Bring back a win for SE Texas. (Yes. La Porte is still SETX. Ha!)
