Transplanted out there, at that! 8)...That dude is from Orange!!
So he goes thru my neighborhood on I-10 to go home. Kids use to practice their pitching BY throwing rocks off the bridge at cars as they traveled I-10. Bad kids!

Exactly where is your neighborhood, Dove?  Hamshire? Beaumont?  Waiting to see where it is next year.

And DV, isn't YOUR TOWN now Nederland?

As for me, I have lived 21 years, almost half of my life, in the Greater Houston area.  13 of those well within the Houston city limits.  Worked or was schooled all of those years within Houston, including Downtown and that little school on Cullen Blvd.  So since, I am now closer to the Houston city limits than either of you...doesn't it make Houston, my town?

You know, I am gonna take you to Breaux Bridge along with Dove.  I'll make more money than that MegaMillion payoff.

High School Baseball? Please, nobody keeps up with that sport in Houston.
Craig Biggio and St. Thomas high gets alot of attention.
I'm from Houston and familiar with the history of Bellaire's baseball program and their [s]recruitment of players.[/s]..ooops! Its a high profile program, but not a news worthy program you hear about in the barber shops.
They are in the barber shops I go to.
[/quote  ::)  Unless Katy makes the playoffs- those barbers don't care nothing about Bellaire
Dove- First of all, I am shocked that you travel all the way to Houston to get your haircut.  Secondly, if you know what those barbers care and don't care about, it simply means that you and WOS grad both use the same barber(s).  I wonder why the two of you have such vastly different interpretations?
Great question Nash! WOS must use the barber in katy where baseball and football is the measure.

My guess is that, while you are very familiar with basketball and its popularity in Houston, that you know absolutely zero about baseball and its popularity in Houston.

Maybe not in the 4th but in most other parts baseball is much bigger.
For the record, I am not from "the 4th", as you put it, and have no clue as to where that came from...baseball is popular, but its not more popular than basketball in Houston...that's the last word on that.

Because its ridiculous to argue otherwise...if you guys told me that baseball was more popular where YOU are from, I may have my thoughts about it, but if I don't really know, then that's what it just may be...same thing in this instance...if you're not FROM there, you cannot tell me otherwise...end of discussion.

DV-It all depends on the circles in which u hang out with and what part of Houston (or any other city for that matter) in which u grew up. It's NOT the final word until someone CHOOSES to stop discussing it. If FACTS are important, then Houston is clearly a more Baseball leaning city based on the number of professional athletes who grew up in Houston compared to basketball Pros (even if u calculate the difference for 12 players on a basketball team vs 20+(?) on a baseball team. Clearly, I'm not a baseball fan, but it is much more popular. Basketball is definitely on the rise however as seen with more year round tournaments and flat out exposure.

Is it safe to say that inside the loop, Basketball is more popular and outside the loop, baseball and football is more popular?
Translation- there is a place for the dunk-o-meter inside the loop but not outside the loop

Okay, I know how to settle this debate: Baseball is more popular but basketball is definitely more exciting!!!!!
Although that's an opinion, I COMPLETELY agree!!!
Obviously you didn't see my right-fielder example... ;D
