Way too many errors this year and alot of that does have to do with not having a field to practice on, you can only get so much out of practice in the gym. pirate supporter
when does any of the problems that the Pirate athletic programs seem to be having became some fault of the kids?? Coach can only do so much and then the kids involved have to have the heart and the will to want to do better. No matter how much any coach in any sport on any level gives to the basics and coaching a group of kids, the kids have to want it too. Less attitude and complaints and more effort and willingness to be coachable would help. JMO
Guest basketball25
thing is the other pitchers aren't as dominant as howell, so other teams are going to put the ball in play against the other pitchers yall have and teams are going to be aggressive on the bases and etc!! if yall make the playoffs you better hope you get a 1 game series!!! Piratesdad4410
you would really have to have been at all of the pirates games to understand. diggstown
Just by what is said on here, someone would have a clue as to the problems Deweyville has a inning by inning report on almost everygame. Steeler you do an amazing job and all of the DP fans appreciate it. BB25 does know the game, he's just pointing out facts. But what these kids and coaches need is positivity from each other and fans. There is achance they can make the playoffs but blaming each other and the coaches is counterproductive . Pull up your britches and go back to work. Leave it all on the field and don't dwell on shortcomings. There are leaders from the footballteam all over the baseball field, they need to step up on the diamond . I hope they can do it. whsalum
Baseball is such a game of repetition it's hard to blame the kids or the coaches. The kids have to get in a flow and they simply can't do that when they are playing 3 games in 3 days and having to move games to other clubs parks.Howell is an ace no doubt but they have some other kids that aren't that far away. Needed 1 more inning but it's hard to say anything negative about the way the Pirates continue to show up and give it their all while playing EVERY game on the road, mentally that is very taxing on the team not to mention expensive for us Parents with gas prices the way they are. >:(
whsalum
I can feel for ya SteelerCrzy.I travel and watch the games now for fun but when the kids were playing you have to go regardless of the price of gas.
BaseballWarrior
Every kid has heart. Every coach has heart. No matter how good or bad the team is, every coach, player, or fan, wants their team to win. Even if a team thinks they will possibly lose deep down they have a feeling if every thing is done right they can overtake the game. A coaching staff can teach players to pull every bit of their heart out for the game. Creating a belief system to be better teammate, players, leaders, and fan support is the responsibility of administration, coaching staffs, parents, relatives, friends, and players themselves. Once everyone is committed to common goals a lot more can be achieved than without, no matter how talented a group may be. Grave examples of this are teams like Nederland, PNG, LCM, Buna, and Bridge City. I've seen years where each of these teams may not have had the best players, but have the entire school, community, and baseball program believes they are going to win no matter who is playing for them or witch team they are playing against. You can't create that type of atmosphere in one year or with one coach or one group of kids.
BaseballWarrior
I'm not saying deweyville doesn't have heart. Those kids are working hard to do good and be better. Just saying you need the support and motivation from more than just coaches and players

bigbird1
I know one of the main things that did affect deweyville they only were aloud to play in one tournament and had only a few preseason games all the other teams in the district played in three tournaments witch gave them a lot more time to work on real game situations.
