AmyCat74 Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 I have A 14 yo daughter who has played softball since she was 5. She's interested in joining a select team. I know it's late in the season to start looking, but if ANYONE can help me make it happen I'd appreciate it.
hornetmom76 Posted May 4, 2012 Report Posted May 4, 2012 You're right. It's probably too late for her to join a 14u team as most of thos tryouts happen in January. Her skill set, motivation and goals would determine whether she should be on a 14u, 16u, or 18u team. The gold level teams may be having open tryouts depending on their needs. You would do good to contact some teams and see if she could come practice with them and be a pick up player. That's how we started 3 years ago at 11 yrs old and we are playing 18u now. Another important question your daughter needs to answer is if she wants to compete for a scholarship. Most 18u players are looking to play college ball and the competition is stiff out there. Hope this answers some of your questions.
