I too am glad my kids go to Barbers Hill as well!

As for Nederland, your a good second choice.  Most of them have class and I will say that D 20-4A top teams have as much fan support as any district.  It has been fun and good competition playing the Dogs and Indians.
Good luck to the Dogs seniors.

Congratulations Eagles.  All the odds, one game, visitor, at there place after the gift provided last year there, facing a good pitcher in Brown, were against you.  Well Done!  Keep it going Eagles!

I'm so proud!http://www.setxsports.com/forum/Smileys/default/smiley.gif

As far as Grayson being #2,that is a rag sports writers opinion.Doesn't matter who starts for The Hill as long as we get a win.Several kids have pitched well this season.Long is 5 and 1 since district and still has MLB scouts wanting to watch. Whatever his role is for this team, his mom and I are very proud and are looking forward to a bright future. GIGEM

the kid has scouts looking at him because he is 6'4" and has a frame to build on...not to mention is throwing 91-92 already....the building block is there...but that doesnt have anything to do with being the #1 this year. The lefty has been the best pitcher this year and thats not a knock on long because the lefty is very good...is his ceiling as high as longs, probably not but for this season I think its apparent that Denny thinks thames is the #1. He started this game and the game vs GCM that settled the district title IMHO. Regardless BH has atleast 3 very good pitchers to make a deep run. Good luck

Good thing is the kids and coahces don't care about #1 or # 4.  When one struggles someone steps in and picks up the slack.

Speaking of slack, we just keep knocking off 20-4A teams and it's a very sweet.

On to the next experience.

Last nights crowd for nederland was crazy, I think I saw more students than parents there, wish we could get more of the students to our games.

There were a bunch at the GCM game.  We need more seating and parking though.  I had to park in Livingston and sit on the enemy side.  The kids mostly sat outside the fence on the hill by Left field.

Yeah, I was up there, I am a student myself (senior) I think some of kids didn't go last night because of the hour drive. But man I love Grilling on that hill and I'm so happy we might get another chance to go out there and cook.

Speaking of seating, who designed BH's stands? Narrow but tall stands? What a horrible design...rest of the field looks great, Denny has done a nice job in making that place look great.

Congrads to BH 8)
Who is BH number one pitcher? Saw a couple of scouts with radar guns on the big closer .. He was throwing 91 to 92 mph... Kind of cocky not starting your ace in a 1 gamer
According to the Baytown Sun article from last week the starter in tonight's game, Thames, is the #1.

From the Baytown Sun April 27th:

No. 5 – Barbers Hill baseball team. The Eagles have taken flight under head coach David Denny. Denny guided Kingwood to a pair of state championships and has the Eagles poised to win the outright 19-4A title with a victory over Crosby tonight. Barbers Hill has one of the most competitive players in the area in Christian Thames. They also have one of the best athletes in the area in sophomore Kaleb Denny. If Grayson Long can be a strong No. 2 starter, the Eagles have a shot to make quite a playoff run.
The Baytown Sun is NOT a "reliable" source for Barbers Hill sports (well especially football and/or baseball) ... they have a tendency of not even getting the Baytown teams information correct!

It's not cocky, it's confident!  We've done it from time to time depending on the match up.  As a matter of fact, we did it a lot in 2010 with Wellbrock & Schlottman and it got us a ring.  ;) ;D

As for the Baytown Sun and any other questions relating to our pitchers or any other players amongst this AWESOME group of young men ..... Come out and watch the games!!  They ALL deserve to be where they are and then some!!  One pitcher/player will not get you very far in any competitive sport, that point was proven with Nederland’s Brett Brown …. It takes a TEAM effort…..
We all know the scouts were out there to watch one guy .... #20 ..... He has been not only one of the best pitchers on the mound for Barbers Hill the last three seasons, but also the best motivation in the dugout.  Grayson is the epitome of a "Team Player" (as are his parents) .....
Watching him during the games that he wasn't pitching in, and how he was always a motivator .... whether going out and giving a "high five" to the defense when they are coming off the field or being out on the football field to support his friends after a tough loss, Grayson is a "class-act".  Grayson is one-of-a-kind and portrays the class and character that any parent would be proud to call "theirs".  We have enjoyed every minute of him and our son being on this team the last few seasons.

Go BH !!

Talking about the BH stands......with as well as their teams do and all the fan support, you'd think they'd improve the seating! Being a BH graduate myself, and having one graduating in the next few years, I know they have plenty of money for the improvements!
