College recruits

IF you fall in these categories, you have a chance.

1st Tier

-Usually will get drafted in first three rounds and be offered millions by Major League Organizations

-Entire nation will have a handful

-Player is a 5 tool player (hit for power, average, speed, arm, defensively excellent)

-Player needs to be of good size

-Pitchers throw 94-100 mph

-If velocity is 92-94, off speed and mound presence needs to be advanced

-Pitcher needs to be of good size

2nd Tier

-Will fall into "perfect college material" and will be drafted lower (rounds 4-8

-These players rate out as being above average in a draft report

-Have good tools, but nothing outstanding

-Pitchers throw in the 88-92 range, good off speed pitches, and good mound presence

-Players will go to major division I college programs and get heavily recruited

-Partial to full scholarships offered to these players

-Official trips offered to these players and they are wined and dined

3rd Tier

-Will fill out the end of the Major League Free Agent Draft (rounds 10-30)

-This tier is used by major division I college programs as "roster fillers"

-Promising and could turn into a solid college player

-Heavily recruited by lower level division I programs and division II

-Small partial to half scholarships offered to these players

-No official trips offered, mainly unofficial

-Players are rated out as "average" in most categories

-Pitchers throw in mid 80's to upper 80's

-All other players will have to promote themselves and usually end up at junior college or stop playing

Simply put, those criteria are 'fiction'. Based on this, there is no one in this area that is a Tier 1 and maybe not a Tier 2. For example, none of the pitchers in the area sit at 92-94; yet, we have 3 who have signed with big D1 programs:

Harwood (Rice) tops around 90-91 but his breaking pitch is, at best, average. Angelle (A & M) tops in the upper 80s although he is more comfortable around 85-87 although is curve ball is probably a plus pitch. Ehlert is another guy around 90 with an above-average to plus breaking pitch. He signed with A & M. None of these meet the Criteria 2 but they are outstanding pitchers who will do well in a major college program.

I don't think you can find a legitimate recruiter or MLB scout that would use that criteria. It was a good effort but it just doesn't work in real world recruiting, etc.

Mif04

I've seen the Angelle kid throw and he being left handed is definite Tier 2

and would not be surprised if he isn't a high draft choice.

Harwood and Elhert according your numbers are definite Div 1 pitchers which falls into Tier 2.

    • There are so many laws on ballots that it could probably be a degree course. Some say things like, you have to declare your party before January 1 each election year (so in the previous year) and you can’t change. So a potential candidate can’t declare to be a Democrat in December 2023 and then in May 2024 decide to file paperwork to run as a Republican. Each state is different though on dates (including actually different dates on “major” and “minor” parties), appeals, party affiliations, changes to the ballot by any means and so on. The Nevada alone for the 2023-2024 elections season is 9 pages with links to other pages.  The states combined might have thousands of pages of election information. The Texas Election Code has about 160…. Chapters. I could understand where a person could read a line or two and say, “Aha! That’s the answer” and ignore 567 pages.
    • Congrats Horns. Could be a big season for yall coming up
    • When did Woodville get a Jacob Hunter on the roster 😂
    • And for what it’s worth, can we stop calling something we don’t agree with “a lie?” That’s literally what people are doing now, media included. If Trump says “I don’t think climate change is that big of a deal, some tree hugger will yell “he’s a liar!” And the talking heads will put another tic mark on the lie list. I saw the other day where some jerk researched trump’s presidency and said “he averaged 21 lies per day.” I agree that he’s a liar, but come on… 21 per day? They’re like “…then Trump said Biden is doing a bad job… another lie.”
    • That’s not a lie… in the buildup to the reversal of Roe v Wade, some states (like Texas) were putting in very restrictive abortion bans that would take effect on the off chance that Roe v Wade was overturned.   Other states (like Virginia) set in place rules even less restrictive than the ones in Roe v Wade…. And the Governor of Virginia was proud to say that abortion was legal right up until the baby was born.   This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up FWIW, a state rep from Va authored a bill that would loosen restriction.  Asked to clarify, she said that a woman who was actively dialated would be able to request an abortion. After an uproar, she backtracked.  This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up The headline of the article incorrectly states that trump’s statement was a lie… it’s not, IMO.
