KFDM COOP Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 kogt.com Bridge City Coach Claude Tarver will not be back for his sixth season as head football coach and Athletic Director. Guest Bridge City Card Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 He will be missed. There will be alot of Coaches apply here i'm sure.
Guest Kelly Football Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Who will be favored to get this job?
Guest Bridge City Card Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Probably Matthews. Troy Bolton of BC along with Huckabee will be favorates as well.
revfaulk Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 i played for tarver and worked for him too. he is a great man. bridge city didn't know how good they had it while he was there. he doesn't have a real loud personality, some mistake that for not caring, or arrogance or whatever. he is a good man and honestly i know that he wasn't treated very well while he was there. i am glad he is moving on. best of luck to him and his family.
Guest reddog Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 You kids are fast bc he just told his Coaches today. Coop you have some really GOOD sources. I would like to throw the name of Gary Kubiak in for the job.
KFDM COOP Posted December 15, 2006 Author Report Posted December 15, 2006 Man it was already on the Sports news tonight! 8)

tvc184 Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 May have been but when it broke you guys were right there SUPER COOP. Start calling you Geraldo Rivera. No way. Geraldo hasn't been correct in anything yet. What a slap in the face to make that comparison.

Guest kosmo Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 I hate that Coach Tarver is moving on. He is an absolute stand up guy, and he will be missed by the program. I wish him all the best. I think the best chance will be Josh Smalley or Jeff Mathews to replace Tarver. No way Bolton gets it.
Cat22 Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Nope you guys can't have Smalley. He bleeds Orange now!!!
ballcoach Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 I have Coached against Coach Tarver for many years. He has never not had his kids ready to play. He is an outstanding Coach who has gotten a lot out of his players. He will be hard to replace.
BucketSitR Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 I played for Coach Tarver at North Mesquite back in the late 70's. Great guy...Still look back on those times and realize what great leadership that group of coaches gave to a bunch of knotheads that we were..Just saw where one of my teammates just got the AD job at MISD. Good Luck to Coach Tarver... NMHS class of 80 BucketSitR
Lucky Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 I hate that Coach Tarver is moving on. He is an absolute stand up guy' date=' and he will be missed by the program. This guy knows football and has plenty of experience.
Guest Bridge City Card Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Bolton has a shot. Matthews is not a 100% done deal. He turned the job down here a few years back to stay in Vidor. He wants to come to BC now though, i think everyone knows that. He's made it clear to several people.
jacf Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 Why would you hire a guy that turned down the job once and has a losing record where he is. Vidor's football team has been the most inconsistent team in the area over the last three or four years. Know way i would hire matthews. Smalley is to young to be an ad. at a big 3a school. Could not handle the pressure of an ad job at this point. Of all the people mentioned bolton would be a good choice. he has no head coach experience but he has been around long enough to give hime a shot. And he is the only one on staff now that might get it. If not him then i would go outside the area. But no way i give it to matthews. He had his chance. If you are hiring someone that can motivate and that is it then he is the guy but if you want a motivater and someone that can win then he is definitley not the guy.
jacf Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 oh i forgot huckaby..if it isnt bolton then it should be him..b.c guy and has won where he has been before....think he has applied before. actually i am still laughing that smalleys name would even be mentioned...
Guest zunder Posted December 15, 2006 Report Posted December 15, 2006 i agree about smalley. i could not have said it better myself, he has done nothing to be considered for that job. bolton is the man...
KFDM COOP Posted December 15, 2006 Author Report Posted December 15, 2006 Smalley would do a good job. Those kids like him and he's from BC. He's done a great job so far as OC at OF.
