Some of the dress codes at those schools would drive me crazy. I guess I'm just too old school.

[/quote]LOL... okay!  I remember a day when, as a memeber of our football team, you had to where shirts tucked, clean shaved and dress shoes on game day.  Or else you didn't play.  Coach Bill Bryant, Center, TX 89-90. I'm old school too.

Yep. Those days are long gone for most.

I played for Al Dennis at Baytown Sterling (Class of 1983). You were free to dress however you wanted, but you were also free to NOT play football. This day and age that would get you a visit to the school board and a possible law suit.

When Coach Roark took over last year at Angleton one of the 1st rules while playing athletics in Angleton was that you couldn't have no facial hair and no crazy hair cuts. I thought he would upset some people around there, but all the kids responded well to it, for what I know. Kids look like kids and not like they are 25 years old. They'll have plenty of time to grow whatever they want after high school.

I would like to now why its ok in one district to have facial hair and things of that nature and not ok in other districts. Dont get me wrong, I dont think it should be allowed either but just saying I dont understand why its acceptable in some Texas school districts and not others.

No facial hair allowed at PN-G. The first year Coach Stone came over from Nederland he told a few guys to get haircuts and also to shorten our sideburns. He did slip up saying we could grow beards if we won a few games in a row but then he was told my principals we couldn't.

Just remember....school was out for most, or close to it when these pics were taken.....I know for a fact most schools will have their "codes" enforced once the season starts.

Even so, would a coach want his player to represent the name on the front of the jersey in a manner not consistent with the expectation of the school and the coach?
