What about sports officiating is off-limits to SETX Admin?

Seems every time it is discussed, it gets deleted. I am an ex-official trying to sort out whether I will return to the sport.

What were you wanting to discuss Poker Star?? There have been several discussions on this board and they have not been deleted.  When the conversations stray way off the topic or become personal, the moderator steps in.  I did however hear there was a topic re: sports officiating posted a little while back but it did not stay on here very long.  I believe it was a topic re: the two chapters operating in the area which is a very sensitive subject for some. Now, I believe the person who saw the topic on here but not sure why it is no longer on here unless it was totally inappropriate. 

If you are thinking of coming back to officiating, this site should not be your deciding factor.  Come back because you enjoy the sport...not by what others say on this board.  :)  We could use more officials!

Not only does he or she have to decide if they are returning to officiating but also WHICH chapter to return to. The landscape may have changed since their departure.

So which chapter does one go with in this area now? I talked to the baseball chapter secretary & he said there are 2 chapters in beaumont now. I do know that the football chapter is TASO.

Deep East Texas Chapter (the TASO group) - I believe they service majority of schools in the area so if you are wanting to work games ....they would be the better choice.

Absolutely!!! Deep East Texas chapter is well organized & has the "pick of the litter" for the area's best referees.

Question, why does the chapter with what you say has "better" officials, have less schools? I ask this not in jest but would really like to know.

Also, I believe each chapter has good and bad officials. Seen enough of each chapter over the past few years to come to that conclusion.

Thanks for the info, Big Daddy but I found out from some coaches & refs who was still running the show for the local UIL chapter and I'm gonna go with the old TASO chapter.
