So what you are saying is the middle class made the decision. How did that happen? ;)
Would you not agree that public school employees(who made that decision) fall into the middle class?
With 1% Godfathers nearby offering a deal they could not refuse ;)

Hmm - let me see if I can figure this out.  HJ and Silsbee coaches and ADs get together and discuss the difficulties they have had in their home and home series.  They mutually agree to move the games to a larger venue.  They agree to share the extra expense and/or split the additional revenues that are a result of the game.  They call Ford Park and reserve the court for both games and Ford Park gives them a price to which they agree.  Where do the 1% Godfathers come in?  And what is in it for the greedy, selfish, uncompassionate Godfathers?

Silsbee by 15 in both games.  HJ plays a very weak schedule, avoids sport specific weight training, and does not play "real basketball".  Why did you change the subject?  I think I know.  You realized your "contention" was full of holes and did not want to pursue it further?

Nash, you treat Silsbee like our current administration, NO R-E-S-P-E-C-T!!!  Do you even remember the qualities of the Silsbee team? Speed, athleticism, IQ, ETC. All the ingredients to take out HJ this year in district. THEN!!!!  you know you gotta face JACK YATES

Have plenty of respect for Silsbee basketball.  Always have.  Funny, though, I have no recollection of them running HJ out of the gym with their speed.  Seems like HJ had enough skills to offset their shortage of athletecism and I would be willing to compare the HJ basketball IQ to most any high school team that steps on the court.  I understand the fascination with Yates.  For it is your last and final hope you can use to possibly discredit HJ basketball program.  The  weak schedule suggestion didnt work.  The lack of sport specific off season training failed.  In fact, their record suggests that you are wrong on all of your contentions.  However, if you can just get to that HJ-Yates contest, you can tell everyone you were right.  And if for some reason an upset takes place with HJ getting the win, we stand ready for your credible announcement that HJ would have no chance against the Longhorns, Aggies, or Rockets.

I can remember back in the 1996 and 97 seasons Silsbee ran HJ out the gym! Some of those scores were like 87-51, 79-43, 69-53
They certainly did.  HJ had just moved up to 4-a and could not compete at that level.  I saw both of those games.  Not sure what that has to do with what is going on now, but if it makes you feel better, go for it.  I also remember that year for another reason, an HJ basketball player participated in the state finals in two separate sports in Austin.

One more question about those two powerhouse Silsbee teams, Santa.  How did they do in the playoffs?
Ohhh! Sounds like you're saying they folded under playoff pressure. Would you also be saying the current Silsbee team remind you of the 96-97 team?

Why does it sound that way?  The current Silsbee team was only a couple of points away from going to Austin last year- that hardly qualifies as folding.  Good try, though

Of course the superintendents are the ones who made the decision.  But some on here who are practicioners extraordinaire of the class envy tactic, tried to imply that somebody else manipulated that decision.
Ahhh! So, which "Class" is paying for this event?

Hmmm- let me see- Since this is sponsored by two schools who operate at the expense of the taxpayer, I would have to believe that all classes are probably involved.  I would also venture to guess that this event will likely pay for itself in terms of revenues from the gate vs expenses for holding the games at Ford Park.  Am always gratified to see someone from the left be concerned about expenses.  That is very much a rarity.  Or maybe the real concern is that someone other than the rich might have to participate in the costs?

Not sure.  How many need to be given in order to make things "fair"?

i would think the biggest reward for this game being played at a larger site would be getting inside the door to actually watch the game. Especially for anyone that had to leave work early or not go to work at all just to have the opportunity to watch their team play. It drove me crazy not making it to the game in Silsbee last year. Although I was thankful that I could listen to the game, I would have much rather have been inside watching it. I made sure to be at HJ to get in line at 3:00.

Very good point.  This should alleviate that problem and nobody needs to get there any earlier than they would for any other district game.  From my perspective, it looks like a decision that was made in full consideration of the fans.

You agree?  Looks like your position has "evolved" just like that of the President.  Within this thread, I believe it was you who stated: I might also add that it appears the 1% wants to move the HJ/Silsbee venue to attract more customers..err fans. And possibly making the 47% who work hard for their money and pay taxes having to drive extra miles (to see family & friends play) thereby reducing their family income until their next pay check. And, after all of this x-tra pressure put on them by the 1%, "Glad you changed your mind, Dove.  And don't bother going back to alter the original post because I have already copied it.
