I don't think Marshall will be as big a factor as some think.  Despite some good regular seasons and high rankings, they have usually found a way to exit the playoffs early.
Oh so they kinda like BH?  :D

Actually looking at their past few seasons, they do not even reach that level.  They have not been to the playoffs in 5 years and their recent regular season records were not even as good as I thought.
well then what the heck are they basing it on? 3 players and moving down to 4-A.... and according to them a "much weaker than normal Class 4-A Region III" <-- what is that suppose to mean?

Dont see a much weaker region 3. Shoot a 4a region 3 team hasnt won state in like 6 or 7 years so its not like region 3 has been putting out powerhouses. Also elkins beat marshall last year and dayton managed to beat elkins without their best player and a very average senior class. Every time a 5a team drops down everybody overreacts just look at humble. They were supposed to destroy everybody.

Ya, but we play in state all of the time.  Last few years....
2011 Manvel
2010 La Marque
2009 Brenham
2008 Dayton
I think we'll be ok!  ;)

Fort Bend Marshall won't be that much to handle, they will always have some talent because of where they are located. Their program is down right now and will be for a while longer even though they are no longer 5A. My son coached there when they open that school until 2007 under Coach Brantley who had them going in the right direction. at that time they we're making the playoffs quite often. In 4 years they turned out 20 D1 players with only Southlake Carrol turning out 1 more in 5 years. My son was his OF coordinator an recruiting coordinator back then, but they are not what they use to be. I don't know who is coaching there now but it will take some time to get back where they were at one time. The last 4 or 5 years they have been going down, a lot of kids are not choosing to go there who can chose to.

With the new school Ridge Point, I don't see Marshall turning out any great teams. I think Ridge POint might surprise some people with Sienna Plantation growing they will continue to bring in alot of talent with current and ex-pro players kids going to school there. It has the makings of a school like Southlake Carroll as far as alot of pro players kids going to school there. I might be wrong, but that's my two cents.

Marshal will turn out like Humble. They will find out just because you drop down doesn't mean there isn't good football teams.

I think Tomball will be a bigger factor than any FB schools with midrange 4A numbers.

I agree.
Just chatted with Chris Lyke about that and he said that he almost put Tomball in that slot.  However, he pointed to the fact that the Cougars are still on the comeback trail.  Also, they are making a coaching change this year and he is waiting to see what impact Tomball Memorial will have.

As for Marshall and the comment about the weak bracket, he acknowledged that the Marshall team, although still talented, is not a strong team coming down.  As to how they would advance, he was talking more about the first two rounds of the bracket that either Marshall (or Tomball for that matter would face).  They get District 21-4A (the HISD district) in bi-district and either 23 or 24-4A.  Both have dangerous teams, but not necessarily any world beaters according to Chris.

We won't be as good, but we have been, but I doubt we will be a slouch this year.
You know... sometimes when you doubt those kids they pull together and play harder.  Last years Manvel team supposedly only had a good line and two d-ends returning.  But you see how the season went.  Don't knock them too early... Team unity and scrappiness can get some wins too.  I think you guys will end up going further than most expect.

I know exactly what you mean.  In 2008 & 2009 we way overachieved.  The next 2 years we were favorites to play in state, and got bounced in the first and second round.
Exactly... The tradition is there in Brenham.  Those kids expect to win reguardless of who they put on the field. Don't doubt them... I'll be routing for you guys myself!
