Spain's Alvaro Quiros had a rare hole-in-one at a par-4 in practice for the US Open on Wednesday.  Too bad it was a day too early.

It time to get underway.  The first 6 holes are supposed to be brutal with a +2 score on those holes considered good.  Many people predicting a winning score of -1 to -3 for the Open Champion

Tiger looks very under control.  He is hitting fairways and greens and making easy 2 putt pars.  Everyone else is having to work hard for every shot.

Phil with a bogey, bogey, bogey start.  Really he is lucky to only be +3 after some of the shots he has hit.

Tiger just drilled a 40 foot putt to take the lead.  He is -2 through 15

Tiger is now tied for the lead after the early struggles from Micheal Thompson

17 yr old Amature Beau Hossler is tied for the lead at -1. 

I couldn't imagine being in that spot at 17 yrs old

The way play is going, I'll stay with Dufner. Jacobsen from Sweden is tearing it up. Missed some easy birdies though.

The Hossler kid is pretty awesome.  Tiger isn't playing well.  Major champions Furyk and McDowell with the lead.  Should be a good Sunday

Some of these greens are ridiculous. If the ball lands say, to the right of the flag, it rolls fifty feet off the green down a hill. Why would this be part of the green anyway if the ball will not stick? I know, every player has to face this fact, but still, it's like playing on concrete. Also can't believe how many putts can be back-doored.

Lots of players in striking distance. Should be a good finish like you said.

I picked Furyk to win the Masters and he stunk it up. Now I pick Dufner to win the Open. He ain't stinking it up, but he has played better. Still ain't over.

Webb Simpson was the 15th first time Major winner in the last 15 majors.  Furyk choked it up at the end, but a good win for the 26 yr old Simpson.
