Head Baseball Coach At GCM?

Who will be the next baseball coach here? Are they going to open it up or hire from within?

Saw on another site that they had a varsity baseball/freshman football coaching position open.  That leads me to believe that the 1st asssistant was promoted and they are looking for a first assistant for him.  Smart move, especially since the program has been successful as of late and it's late in the summer.

No it does not mean that at all.  That was Rupp's main issue. He did not want to have to coach football any more. Deer Park is baseball only.

I don't get it, he didn't say anything about Rupp and football.  He was saying sounds like 1st asst is going to be promoted based upon the job posting.

I think (and I could be wrong) that people assume that because the position posted lists freshman football, that it is not the Varsity head baseball coaching position. In GCCISD, all coaches much coach 2 sports in the 4A high schools (GCM and REL).

It has nothing to do with the football position.  My statement was that the varsity assistant baseball position was open, freshman football just happens to be tied to it.  That position leads me to believe that they are looking for a 1st assistant rather than a head coach because the previous 1st assistant was promoted, which should have happened.  Also, in this great state of Texas at most larger schools, the head baseball coach and 1st assistant coach freshman football because of the time requirements during baseball and the football offseason.

The posting doesnt say varsity assistant, it says varsity baseball and freshman football which is exactly what Rupp did. Ive already said Thames should get it but the posting is in no way an indication that it has happened.

it is not posted on thsca or tasa website either or thsbca

ok, i guess you all are right and have more experience looking at jobs.....the posting says varsity baseball, not head baseball; in my experience in looking at jobs on the thsca site, if it is a head baseball job it will say head baseball....It is posted on thsca website, hfc/ad can post jobs on that site. It will usually be on thsca before its on a school district website.

was not trying to start anything I was just saying the HEAD baseball job was not posted on the normal websites they might be posted on

The school board should have accepted Rupp's resignation at tonights meeting. The job should be posted soon. I hope they do hire Thames as the new HC, we will soon see.
