Trey Green!!!

GONE!

Best playmaker in the district possibly the region has graduated. We will find out just how good coach Nelson is this year, because alot of what got them into and through the playoffs last year was not coached...it was the talents of Mr. Green when things broke down.
2 thumbs up.  Great point!

No doubt Green was Mr. everything. There must have been some coaching though, for it was the D that held All-mighty Brenham to only 10 ponits in the playoffs. I think the young guns learned a great deal last year. Personally, I thnk Ozen will be one of the teams that will keep your ndns out of the playoffs this year.
Well ,someone had a enough coaching to put the players in a position to win. I've seen coaches unable to put the *right* players in the position to win.

Ozen would be smart to work on the 10 yd and under passes. Mostly quick passes, slants, screens etc. Than bust a long one. You want to get it in the athletes hands and let the speedster perform. I would welcome any team that loaded the box to stop the run.  Cause your gonna get burnt on a quick pass.

Exactly, I've been saying this for years.  Short passing game to compliment the running game and let the atheletes have a track meet!

Brenham's offense wasn't exactly spectacular last year.  They weren't bad, but Brenham's strength is and has been the defense.  Don't get me wrong, Ozen played great defensively against us, but Brenham's offense hasn't been that powerful since Jarrett Lee & Brandon Collins, back in 2005 & 2006.  I picked Ozen to make the playoffs last year and I see them doing the same this year.  With Ozen's speed, I'd use more screens.  You have the speed, so use it.  JMO...
...and the 2012 version of the Panthers will not be lacking that (speed) at all.  As I've said before, look for Ozen to be the most athletic team in this district and possibly the region.

I hear what you're saying BrenhamFan. Your strength has been the D recently. Your O did average 37 points per game last year and Ozen held you to 10. Now was Ozen's D well coached or was your district weak?  My point was directed to the misguided ndn fan who said most of what got Ozen through the playoffs was not coached. I am begining to see a different Ozen. Better coaching and more discipline makes for a dangerous team with all those athletes.

Very true.  I expected more than a TD and a FG from us.  We did score quite a bit last year, (like the 65 against Huntsville) but a lot of it had to do with turnovers.  I commend the Ozen offense for taking care of the ball so well when we played last year.  Another thing that inflated our offensive numbers, was that we played Northbrook & Spring Woods.  Lol.  The top half of our district was actually pretty good, but the bottom half was really awful.

I agree with 85' HUSKER at ozen the coaching has gotten better, the  kids are more discipline, ( but still have a few problems, like all schools do ). But over all, with the athletes they have and proper coaching, winning can be contagious. Play hard for 4 quarters and winning will take of it's self. go panthers !!

To all those that think I am just an NDN fan hatin' on Ozen, here are some facts to support my argument...

Starting with the PNG game last year through the final playoff game, Ozens defense gave up 27 ppg!
The last 3 district games (PNG, Ned, Liv) and the BH game (leaving off Lumberton because they are well Lumberton) the defense gave up 36 ppg.

So why did Ozen make the playoffs? because in there final three district wins and against BH they averaged 40 ppg. And they scored 41 against a great Ned defense.

Trey Green will be hard to replace but the defense should be decent
