The good news...each year the Red Devils have a good crop of athletes and a good, hardworking coach in Todd Hopkins. Amongst those starters is quality senior running Kywon Carthwright (2nd team all district picks in 2011) and senior fullback Josh Packard (2nd team all district in 2011). Senior Lane Williams should also see some time in the Red Devil backfield. Huntington's spread offense will have plenty of firepower on the outside as returning starters senior Joseph Loggins and junior Jamicheal Brown will be joined by sophomore newcomer Trenton Carrigan. The offensive line for the Red Devils will include senior linemen Jacob Slaughter (2nd team all district) and Hudson Cook as well as junior lineman Sean Sims and senior tight end Nick Moore.[size=14pt][b][u]2012 Defense[/u][/b][/size][size=12pt][b]Defense: 3-4Returning starters: 9[/b]The nine starters returning from the 2011 marks the one of the most experienced defenses that Coach Hopkins has had since coming to Huntington. Returning junior starting linemen Jacob Cartwright and Clay Boston will be joined on the frontline by senior David Horton. All four talented starting linebackers return in the form of Packard (2nd team all district pick), senior Dylan Wallace (2nd team all district pick), Cartwright and senior Matt Hudspedth. The senior laden secondary of Austin Hooper, Jason Williams and Bob Dickerson will be joined by junior Justin Stanley.[size=14pt][b][u]2012 Key Games[/u][/b][/size]Huntington will begin the 2012 season by traveling to Tarkington on August 31st.
