In 2012, the Bulldogs again will be under a first year coach, but that is very familiar to the Jasper area. Head Coach Darrell Barbay moves over from a successful stint in Anahuac and is prepared to continue Jasper's quest to match its glory days. Junior Steven Walker (2nd team all-district, 67-158, 1115 yds, 16 TD) will again trigger the Bulldog offense. Jasper will have plenty of firepower on the outside as senior receivers Demarcus Collins (1st team all-district, 22 catches, 514 yards, 8 TD in 2011) and Jonavon Limbrick (2nd team all district, 5 catches, 64 yds, 1 TD) will be joined by sophomore Chris Spikes, who according to Barbay is an explosive, athletic receiver. Look for senior fullback/tight end Dranzell Hayes (1st team all district, 8 carries, 117 yd, 3 TD) and senior back Donovan Middleton (2nd team all district, 45 carries, 528 yd, 6 TD)to figure prominently in the Jasper attack. While Jasper did lose some experience on the line due to graduation, the Bulldogs still have senior guard Dominik Limbrick (1st team all district) and sophomore center Terrell Cuney to build around.[size=14pt][b][u]2012 Defense[/u][/b][/size][size=12pt][b]Defense: MultipleReturning starters: 9[/b]The Bulldogs will be in good shape experience wise on the defense as nine starters return from last year's squad. Up front, look for juniors Shawn Jones and Jared McGill (both 1st team all district picks in 2011) to team with senior Shedrick Attaway (2nd team all district) to form a formidible wall. Junior DeAnthony Cuney (1st team all district in 2011) and Haynes (2nd team all district) look to be the backbone of a strong linebacker corp. Seniors Donovan Middleton and Jarvis Randall (both 1st team all district picks in 2011) will anchor the Bulldog secondary.[size=14pt][b][u]2012 Special Teams[/u][/b][/size]Junior Marco Lopez (1st all district place kicker in 2011) will handle both the kicking and punting duties for the Bulldogs. [size=14pt][b][u]2012 Key Games[/u][/b][/size]Jasper will open the 2012 season by traveling to Liberty on August 31st. Jasper County rival Kirbyville visits the Alamo on September 14th. Diboll will be the first opponent in the new 20-3A on October 19th followed by a visit to new district foe Carthage on the 26th.
