2012 Offense

Offense: Flex Bone
Returning starters: 7

As the Rangers moved to the flex bone in 2012, the man charged with making things happen will be senior quarterback Jaime Acosta (12-30, 124 yd 1 TD passing; 96 carries, 450 yards, 4 TD rushing in 2011).  He will be joined in the backfield by sophomore running back DeJaun Hill (28 carries, 192 yards, 2 TD in 2011), junior running back Tremain Little and senior fullback D.J. Griffin (62 carries, 293 yard, 1 TD in 2011).  Leading the Sterling receiver corp will be senior Richard Zeno ( 4 catches, 44 yards in 2011).  Returning seniors Matt Spears and Zach Palmer look to anchor a Ranger offensive line that will also include junior Joseph Smoke.

2012 Defense

Defense: 3-4
Returning starters: 4

In 2012, Sterling will return a relatively inexperienced defense as only four starters return from last year's squad.  A very youn defensive line will be counting on the linebacker corp, which will be anchored senior linebacker Ryan Poston and junior linebacker Hageo Ocha.  Helping things will be the experienced secondary that returns in the form of cornerbacks Alfred Brown and Marquis Mitchell.  They will be joined by senior strong safety Tee Franklin and junior free safety Brandon Seaton.

2012 Key Games

Sterling will renew their rivalry with crosstown rival Robert E. Lee to begin the season on August 31st.  The Ranger open district 21-5A play on September 28th by traveling to La Porte.  West Brook will visit Stallworth Stadium on November 9th to close the regular season

A 4-0 record going into district would be a major accomplishment.  I think they are going to have a hard time with the Clear schools.

Nah. I've heard funnier things.

The Clear schools are watered down so to speak. Springs seems to be the one that got all the football players.

There's a new mentality on campus these days. May not have the horses, but Coach Aduddell has cut loose a lot of the dead weight. These kids will play much better this year. (I know 5-5 is a stretch, but I'm going to think positive.)

lol you got to like gcms outlook but I 'm not sure they win but 2 games. If they lose to Lee again look out. The QB is a jr I think. They have some skill talent but not enough beef up front on either line. If they continue the tradition of falling behind by 2 tds early with that offense they are toast. Heard the OC from last year even got tired of the head coaches lack of a willingness to open up the playbook and left. One thing is for sure, its option or bust and unlike BH, sterling wont throw much.

Depth has been a issue for Sterling. Until they add depth, they'll continue to be a non-playoff team.
their depth is at Goose Creek Memorial  ;)
Nope.  What was their excuse before GCM?  Sterling was horrible and Lee was only a little bit better than them.
Heck no.  The last time Lee was good was when Drew Tate was there.  They were pretty bad too.  Stealing players?  Maybe it was North Shore... 8)

Unfortunately the "streets" have claimed most of Sterling's players. Add that to an increase in one-sport-athletes and you have a lethal mixture.
