[size=12pt]Playoff hopes in Deweyville were very high at the beginning of the 2011 season and with a 4-0 start to the season, the Pirates seemed primed for the playoffs.  But Deweyville found the going a bit tough in 10-2A-II district play and fell short of the playoffs.  New head coach Chris Babin, who spent the last couple of years as an assistant at Lumberton, will count on the leadership of thirteen returning starters to get the Pirates back to the playoffs.

Returning starters: 6[/b]

Although the Pirates, will not run out of the flex bone used by former coach Russell McDaniel, Deweyville will still feature a heavy dose of running from the I formation.  The keys to the offense will be handed to either sophomore Brenden Waldrup (1 carry, 52 yd in 2011) or junior Cody Dupuy (15 carries, 94 yd in 2011).  Either quarteback will have the full services of returning running back Ryan Collins (Honorable mention all district, 1170 yards, 13 TD rushing in 2011) and fullback T.J. Johnson (17 carries, 76 yds in 2011). Senior tight end Trey Bussell (1st team all district, 6 catches, 123 yd in 2011) will join sophomore receiver Robert Brinson to form the Pirate receiver corp.  Senior linemen Daniel Brinson and Bryson Davis, as well as junior Cole Nelms (honorable mention all district in 2011) will form the basis of the Deweyville offensive line.

The Deweyville defense returns seven starters from the 2011 unit.  Seniors Brinson (1st team all district in 2011) and Davis will control things up front.  They will be supported by the leader of the defense, junior inside linebacker T.J. Johnson (2nd team all district in 2011) and junior outside linebacker Colby Hrychuck.  Duput and Collins will anchor the secondary from their respective safety positions.

Deweyville will open the 2012 with Sabine Pass on August 31st.  The Pirates will kick off their 12-2A-II district slate by traveling to Corrigan-Camden.  They will close district play and the regular season by hosting Groveton on November 9th.

[/quote]Unfortunately not...living up in Tulsa now so trips back home are few and far between....have to keep up with the Warriors via friends and SETX website now...Good luck to you guys this year and be careful on those loooong Friday night drives!
