2011 Record: 9-2 Overall, 6-1 District (19-4A District Champs)

2012 was another year of success in 19-4A for the Barbers Hill Eagles.  The Eagles paired a potent offense with a stifling defense to march to a 6-1 record and the district championship.  In 2012, Coach Ronnie Gage and the Eagles have set higher goals than just the district championship.  There will be a lot of retooling as only 8 starters return from the 2011 season, but Gage and his charges stand ready to continue the streak of 4A playoff appearances for The Hill.

## - Playoff games

2012 Offense

Offense: Flex Bone Triple Option
Returning starters: 5

Key among the five starters returning is junior quarterback Kaleb Denny, the 19-4A Offensive MVP in 2011 (57-99, 911 yd, 14 TD passing; 91 carries, 491 yd, 6 TD rushing). Denny's backfield mates will be fresh faces as senior running back Landon Jacobson (28 carries, 177 yd, 2 TD), junior running back Dalton O'pry and junior fullback Nick O'Neal (38 carries, 223 yd, 3 TD) will also be lining up in the Eagle backfield.  When Denny goes to the air, he will be looking senior receivers Trey Dobson and Ryan Brock (8 catches, 140 yd in 2011), as well as senior tight end Tyler Gray (1st team all district, 3 catches, 48 yd, 1 TD in 2011).  Senior center Austin Knotts and senior tackle Dillon Bergstrom return to anchor an offensive line which will also include junior Aaron Alegria.

2012 Defense

Defense: 3-4
Returning starters: 3

The Eagle defense has been hit hard by graduation as only three starters return from the 2011 squad.  Senior nose tackle Reji Rodriguez returns to anchor a line which will also include junior defensive end Tyler Duff.  Senior outside linebacker Garrett Dolan will provide support and senior safety Landon Sarria returns to anchor a secondar which will also feature junior safety Dylan Towery and senior cornerback Tyler Beasley.

2012 Special Teams

Senior Christian Thames, a first team all district kicker in 2011, will again be doing the place kicking for Barbers Hill.  Denny will be handling the punting chores.

2012 Key Games

The Eagles begin their 2012 season by Tigres Juvenil Nuevo Leon on August 31st.  The district schedule will start with Barbers Hill going to Crosby on Sept. 14th.  The Old River Shootout will be on October 26th as Dayton visits.  New Caney comes to Mont Belvieu to end the season on November 9th.

Were getting closer ;D I think most think/hope BH is down this year, but I think they will not miss a step on offense and could be better overall with another year in the new system. Defense will be the key if BH will be succesful this year or not. This offense depends on the defense not giving up big plays, so it doesn't have to play catch up. Looking forward to another season of Eagle Football!
I mean, the name may be a dead give away, but I believe this question arose last year.  I think it's actually located IN Mexico if my memory serves me correct.

There is the info on the Tigres. They are essentially a Mexican National HS football team. They are advised by Major Applewhite.

Good Luck in 2012 BH! Continue that Chambers County sucess!  8)

The Nuevo Leon game will be a big ? for BH  ;D They played 5 A Stony Point the last two season and lost both games last year’s game was pretty close. Not sure of the rules of an international team playing in the USA ,but BH may be playing against 21 year olds ;) Glad we are playing them though it will be a good experience for BH.

Here is the back story on the scheduling of the Tigres.  They were not the original Week 0 team for the Hill.  Coach Gage had tentatively scheduled Humble as their Week 0 opponent.  However, the UIL threw a huge monkey wrench into that plan on realignment day when they put Humble into 19-4A.  That left Coach Gage having to scramble for a new Week 0 opponent which now are the Tigres.

I hope it don't get funnier with BH getting a Mexican beat down. If so, I can't see them ever living that down on SETX. ;D
