But the hearty lad off of Highway 59 in Tarkington will again give all of the effort inside of them. The good news for Coach Brandon Carpenter and the Longhorns is that they do have experience returning in the form of twelve returning starters who will learn from the bumps of the past build up in 2012.Coaching StaffHead Coach: Brandon CarpenterAssistant Coaches: Regi Golden, Defensive Coordinator/Defensive line; Bryan Larned, Offensive Coordinator/Offensive line; Cliff Tooley, Running backs; Ken MacArthur, Tight ends/Special teams coordinator; Nick Asmus, Defensive line; Micah Peoples, Linebackers; Mark Newton, Defensive backs, Albert Wagner, Wide receivers; Jeremy Jones, Offensive line; Josh Kelly, Defensive backsStadium Information*Home Stadium: Longhorn StadiumAddress: 2770 FM 163, Cleveland, Texas 77327Capacity: 600Playing surface: Natural2011 Results

Opponent Score

Huntington 20-41

Hardin 12-21

Kountze 20-50

Hull-Daisetta 18-41

Coldspring# 8-67

Huffman# 0-56

Liberty# 8-63

Shepherd# 14-34

Splendora# 8-49

Cleveland# 12-70

# - District games2012 OffenseOffense: Multiple IReturning starters: 7Tarkington returns seven offensive starters from last years squad, but will look to a new offense and new quarterback to increase output. The Longhorns in 2012 will move away from the Slot-T for the Multiple I and possibly other offensive sets and the offense will be lead by sophomore quarterback Hunter Johnson, who along with fellow newcomer, sophomore Alex Latham, junior receiver Cody Jeansonne and senior tight end Jeremiah Taylor look to improve the Tarkington passing game. Hoping to maintain its potency on the ground, the Longhorns return their two leading rushers from last year, senior R.J Nash (683 yd and 8 TD in 2011) and junior Laramie Nash (2nd team all district in 2011). Helping things along will be a veteran front line of seniors Colton LaFrance, Justin Jamail, Andrew Liggins and Nathan Walker. They will be joined by senior Sam Collins. 2012 DefenseDefense: 4-3Returning starters: 5Tarkington returns five starters from last year's defensive squad. A young defensive line will look to senior Dylon Martin for leadership up front. He will help guide newcomers, junior Tyler Jarboe and sophomores Dallas Dorn and Matt Cates. Senior Steven Soles and junior Ben Frazier lead a linbacker corp which will also include sophomore Gage Dryden. Jeansonne will anchor a secondary that will include Nash as well as sophomores Craig O'Ferrell and Chase Grudzinski.2012 Special TeamsSenior Blake Havard will handle the place kicking for Tarkington while Dryden will take over the punting duties. Nash and Jeansonne will be the primary kick returners.2012 Key GamesTarkington will begin the 2012 season against Huntington on August 31st. The Longhorns will open 22-3A play by traveling to Cleveland on September 28th. They will host Liberty on November 9th to close the regular season.2012 Schedule

Date Opponent Time

Aug. 31 Huntington 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 7 Hardin 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 14 at Hardin-Jefferson 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 21 at Houston Sam Houston 7:30 p.m.

Sept. 28 at Cleveland# 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 5 Coldspring-Oakhurst# 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 12 at Shepherd# 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 19 OPEN

Oct. 26 Splendora# 7:30 p.m.

Nov. 2 at Huffman Hargrave# 7:30 p.m.

Nov. 9 Liberty# 7:30 p.m.

#-District Games* Source: Texas Stadium Database: http://www.texasbob.com/stadium/stadium.php?id=887Helmets Courtesy of: http://www.txhshelmetproject.com/

Johnson is gonna be a sophomore stud. Check the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgoQngGLqdQ
Trocket Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 Nice looking Freshman, but then again he's a freshman playing against freshmen. If he had been a Soph doing that on the JV level, I'd have to agree. Nah, it won't happen, maybe they will get a win against Huntington. ;D

Gonna be a down year.
