The good...for the second year in a row, the Cardinals again secured a spot in the Class 3A, Division II playoffs. The bad news... the Cardinals were unable to advance past the first round. Graduation has hit Bridge City hard as only five starters return. However a strong junior varsity program will leave Cris Stump's cupboard anything but bare in 2012 and those that count Bridge City out may be in for an unpleasant surprise.Coaching StaffHead Coach: Cris StumpCoaching Record: 26-25 overall and at Bridge CityAssistant Coaches:Rob Caraway, Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers; James Johnson, Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line; Jaret Thibodeaux, Defensive Ends; John Davis, Safeties; Randy Brevell, Cornerbacks; Elmer Laird, Receivers; Chad Landry, Defensive Tackles; Joe Blanda, Running backs; James Robbins, Offensive LineStadium Information*Home Stadium: Larry Ward StadiumAddress: 300 Bower Drive, Bridge City, Texas 7761Capacity: 5000Playing surface: Natural2011 Results

Opponent Score

Shepherd 61-3

Vidor 6-21

Beaumont Kelly 20-7

Kirbyville 55-12

Stafford 37-19

Hardin-Jefferson# 41-7

Silsbee# 6-0

West Orange-Stark# 16-21

Hamshire-Fannett# 35-14

Orangefield# 34-0

Coldspring-Oakhurst## 0-7

# - District games## - Playoff games2012 OffenseOffense: SpreadThe Bridge City offense was hit hard with losing the likes of Matt Menard, Hunter Clark and Cameron Dishon. While senior Daniel Faulk might get a look at quarterback, the offense looks to revolve this year around junior running back, Ashton Hunter (285 yards, 2 TD in limited action in 2011). Senior Tanner Cervenka (8 catches, 216 yd, 2 TD in 2011) looks to lead a young Cardinal receiver corp that may also include juniors Keaton Lagnston and Hunter Uzzle. Senior Josh Blanchard will anchor the Bridge City offensive line. 2012 DefenseDefense: 4-3Returning Starters: 3First team all district senior linebacker Zach Cole (127 tackles in 2011) will lead an equally young Bridge City defense which will also rely on the likes of Cervenka, a second team all district pick at cornerback in 2011, and Hunter.2012 Key gamesBridge City will begin the season by traveling to Newton on August 31st. The Cardinals start off the district season by traveling to new district foe Buna on September 28th. Big district games with Silsbee (October 12th) and West Orange-Stark (November 2nd) loom before the Cardinals end their regular season by hosting Orangefield in the Bayou Bowl on November 9th.2012 Schedule

Date Opponent Time

Aug. 31 at Newton 7:00 p.m.

Sept. 7 Vidor 7:00 p.m.

Sept. 14 at Beaumont Kelly 7:00 p.m.

Sept. 21 OPEN

Sept. 28 at Buna# 7:00 p.m.

Oct. 5 at Jasper 7:00 p.m.

Oct. 12 Silsbee# 7:00 p.m.

Oct. 19 at Hamshire-Fannett# 7:00 p.m.

Oct. 26 Hardin-Jefferson# 7:00 p.m.

Nov. 2 at West Orange-Stark# 7:00 p.m.

Nov. 9 at Orangefield# 7:00 p.m.

#-District Games* Source: Texas Stadium Database: http://www.texasbob.com/stadium/stadium.php?id=885Helmets Courtesy of: http://www.txhshelmetproject.com/
