Don't underestimate a player's will to win. WOS is good, but they're not the old WOS. We'll see how LCM rises to the occasion. Hopefully those young kids coming up for LCM understand the bitterness of the rivalry, I feel like they're too young to know.

If the high school football players (or junior high for that matter) don't understand the bitterness of the rivalry, it makes me wonder if it is a rivalry.

You'd think being on the wrong end of a 23-3 series record where the average score has been roughly 29-8, you'd think they'd understand the bitterness.

At work we call that a clue.

I was thinking if you would have to explain to an Indian or Bulldog the meaning of the rivalry by the time they get into middle school..... or the second grade.

I think alot of things changed a couple of yrs. ago after the passing of Reggie I will never forget the feeling in Bear stadium when the WOS players came out of the tunnel with the Bears after halftime. Their drill team was with the Bears and the cheerleaders were on the track with the Bear cheerleaders. It was a very awesome night. With that said goodluck to both!

Exactly. No one will forgat that night including Lumberton. The rivalry is still there but the bitterness my be gone. Most LCM and WOS fans are actually fans of the other.

I know I'll never forget that night, it was a very special time for our community. The kids still want to win their games of course, but there seems to be less animosity now. Remember back in '97 when WO-S lost to Lamarque in the playoffs and LC-M had to face them the next week. A lot of the Mustang football team came over to LC-M's pep ralley and gave words of encouragement. I remember one athlete saying we didn't get it done, but we think that ya'll can. Some things are more important than wins and losses....
