You would think if a town of only 2,000 people could host a World Series twice in 9 years..then why can't Nederland host at least one?

It cost a lot of money and takes a whole lot of time to host a World Series.  The host team is responsible for all of the expenses for the tourney.  Weather is also a problem for us this time of year.  If we would have hosted the Regional this year we would just now be able to play with all of the rain. The World Series will be played in Weimar, but all of the surrounding cities are involved, so it is more than 2,000 people.

Nederland would get stuck with the cost while Beaumont and Port Arthur would get the benefit of the revenue (Restaurant, hotel, etc). I get your point.
