When you have the likes of Newton, East Chambers and Anahuac, you would think it nearly impossible for any other school would be able to break into the playoffs. But in 2011, the Woodville Eagles did just that. The success of 2011 has left Coach Steve Fentress more intent on climbing to the top of the district. And that starts in the backfield as senior Dominique Lockhart and Trent Daniels return for the 2012 season. Also look for senior Marcus Harrison (2nd team all district at running back) to see some time in the backfield. Wide receiver Charles Fentress and senior tight end Torin Hickman (2nd team all district in 2011) will lead the Woodville receiver corp. Seniors Garrett Derouen, Tevin Benjamin and Cody Mitchell will form an experienced line to provide protection for Eagle ball carriers. Leading the way up front will be senior defensive end Felix Johnson (2nd team all district in 2011). Leading the Woodville linebacker corp will be senior inside linebacker Marcus Harrison (2nd team all district in 2011). Seniors Phillip Noble and T.C. Mitchell will team with safety Allen Lee to form an experienced Eagle secondary. [size=14pt][b][u]2012 Key Games[/u][/b][/size]Woodville begins its regular season by hosting New Waverly on August 31st. East Chambers comes to town on September 28th to open 10-2A-I district play. Old foe Kirbyville returns as a district opponent on October 26th. Guest ECBucFan Posted July 18, 2012 Report Posted July 18, 2012 After starting out 1-2 in district, most had wrote then off but they buckled down and swept the rest of the way and made it into the playoffs. Good job by WV in '11.
