[size=12pt]2011 was a historic year for the Port Arthur Memorial Titans.  Their thirteen wins was the most in school history, they earned the first ever regional title and placed a Port Arthur ISD football team in the state semifinals for the first time since 1986.  Many believe that due to the record number of graduates, many who will be playing FBS division college football, that the Ken Harrison's Titans might be due for a step back in 2012.  Considering that eleven starters return on a defense that looks to be even stronger than last year's squad, folks in Port Arthur defintely do not share that belief.

Returning starters: 4[/b]

Of course, when you lose the likes of Terrence Singleton, Nate Holmes and Jhajuan Seales, you are going to expect your offense to be young.  However, Harrison has plenty of bullets in his gun.  Senior running back Darius Lemora (12 carries, 151 yards, 1 TD in 2011), who missed some of last season to injury, and sophomore running back Corey Dauphine, look to pick up much of the slack.  The new QB at Memorial will have plenty of targets as senior John Leday (2nd team all district, 25 catches, 486 yards, 5 TD) will lead a receiver corp which will also include senior Brandon Leday (15 catches, 133 yards in 2011) and junior Roderic Rucker (3 catches, 44 yards).  Senior Toan Nguyen will anchor a young Titan offensive line.

Coach Harrison will be leaning on an experienced defense while the young offense jells.  1st team all district lineman Matthew Romar will lead things up front where he will be joined by senior tackle Walter Oliver (2nd team all district in 2011) and junior end Melbrodrick Matthews.  Lemora will lead the Titan linebacker corp.  Senior James Jenkins (2nd team all district) will lead a secondary which will also feature seniors Jalen Barnes, Albert Jacobs and Devin Cockrell.

Memorial will begin the season by hosting Beaumont Central on August 31st.  The Titans will begin District 21-5A play by traveling to new district foe Deer Park on September 28th.  Memorial will travel to Beaumont to take on West Brook on November 2nd and a regional final rematch with La Porte will take place in Port Arthur on November 9th to close the regular season.

Westside and Bellaire finished runner up and 3rd in district behind Lamar. Both teams lost in 1st round. That district they are in is weak. Other than Lamar, none of the other teams are good. All of them (Madison was the other playoff team) lost 1st round except Lamar.
