[size=12pt]Another new team that will run into some of our SETX teams is the New Caney Eagles.  Much like many schools, the Eagles will be under a new head coach as Brady Pennington takes over in an effort to improve on the 2-8 mark as it enters a new district in 19-4A.

Junior Cody Young, who completed the only pass he threw last season, will take over as quarterback for the Eagle offense. Senior Hunter Bowen (24 carries, 157 yards, 2 TD in 2011) will be counted on heavilly in the New Caney running game, but look for running backs Austin Denby (30 carries, 101 yards in 2011) and Trevor Johnson to make contributions.  They'll be operating under the protection of junior guard Rudolfo Noyola (2nd team all district in 2011), center Austin Conley and tackles T.J. Haney and Innocencio Ramirez.

The 2012 New Caney defense will return seven starters from its 2011 squad.  Up front, Bowen and linemen Keith Olmos and Colt Dinch will lead the way.  Brett Wright and Charles Crew will anchor the linebacker corp.  Young and fellow safety David Reamer will lead the Eagle secondary.

New Caney will begin the season by hosting former district foe Caney Creek on August 31st.  Dayton will come to town to open 19-4A district play.  After a meeting with New Caney ISD district mate Porter on November 2nd, the Eagles will close the season by traveling on to Mont Belvieu to take on Barbers Hill on November 9th.
