[size=12pt]Despite a very young offense to start the season in 2011, the Silsbee Tigers again earned their accustomed spot in the Class 3A, Division I playoffs.  Coach Bobby McGallion will also earn the fruit of last year's young team as plenty of experience in the skill positions have the Tigers poised to again challenge for the top of 21-3A.

Returning starters: 5[/b]

Returning to run the Silsbee offense will be junior quarterback Patrick Reed (59-124, 852, 7 TD passing; 93 carries, 427 yd, 3 TD rushing in 2011).  He will be joined in the backfield by 21-3A newcomer of the year Floyd Spearman (141 carries, 801 yd, 9 TD rusning; 16 catches, 163 yd, 2 TD receiving), but look for seniors Kendrick Scott ( 6 carries, 72 yards, 2 TD) and Yancy Brydson (18 carries, 59 yards, 2 TD) to also get some carries.  Reed will have plenty of targets to seek out in the Silsbee spread as senior Jordan Holmes (2nd team all district, 13 catches, 261 yards, 1 TD in 2011) will lead that will include seniors Montana Garcia (1 catch, 34 yds)and LaDavian Barnes, as well as junior Zayon Jackson.  The offensive line will feature senior center Ross Gilchriest, junior tackle Kanon Mackey (2nd team all district in 2011) and senior guard Dillon Morgan.

Four starters return from Silsbee's 2011 squad to man the 2012 defense.  Up front, 21-3A Defensive Co-Newcomer of the Year, junior Seth Adams, will be joined by senior defensive ends Dusty Thibodeaux (2nd team all district) and Adam Valencia as well as junior defensive tackles Jamarcus Myers and Austin Roundtree.  Senior linebackers Karl Elers will be joined by juniors Jack Gore and Colby LeBlanc. Senior safety Coy Bird and his junior counterpart Jordan Gore will lead the Tiger secondary.


[size=14pt][b][u]2012 Key Games[/u][/b][/size]

Silsbee will welcome former 4A district foe Port Neches-Groves to town to start the 2012 regular season on August 31st.  The Battle of Village Creek will commence two weeks later on Septemeber 14th as the Tigers travel to Lumberton.  Orangefield opens the 21-3A district schedule on September 28th followed by a key matchup at Bridge City on the October 12th.  Silsbee hosts West Orange-Stark in the district finale on November 9th.

Capacity is 10,000. They added about 400 seats on the home side, semi horseshoe. When the stadium was built capacity was about 9500.

I would say it's 6000 homeside, 4,000 visitor.

Can't wait to see this team again, use to have some good district rivalry games when we played in same district years ago. Lots of good athletes and always good coaching. And Classy people in that area, my brother pastored and lived there for years. Looking forward to going there this year. 8)
