Sticking with just southeast Texas players (that is the title of the thread, but knew some would bring up other names), there have been many very good running backs from SETX, but not sure if you could call them great.

Wooster, Byerly, Rodney Thomas of Groveton and maybe a couple of others could be considered great running backs.

The best one game performance by a local running back that I have ever seen was by Silsbee's Jay McGuire in '93. He rushed for 464 yards and 6 TD's against Nederland. He had over 600 all-purpose yards that night. (rushing, receiving, returns).

Easily the best I saw I couldn't believe it when it was over.

Easily should of went to college at FSU and replaced Warrick Dunn. Burk had the whole package vision moves and breaking tackles. LIL Barry Sanders

Best I played against was Dexter Hebert of Kelly.  I remember watching Anthony Byerly as a kids, he was great.  Also Butch Hadnot of Kirbyville, he was a stud!

Jay McGuire was the man I was there when jay had that historic night , also when they beat Wo-s after Kendall Cleveland had a 93 yard run for a touchdown , jay followed with a 101 yard kickoff return for a touchdown and he ran over Wo-s that game he was an awesome running back.

Reggie Davis- Jasper...but I also remember a guy on PNG's '89 team that ran all over Jasper in the playoffs in Pasadena. It seemed like he ran the ball every play of the fourth quarter to ice that game for them after they took a big lead early. We couldn't stop him for anything. Do you Indian fans remember him?

I think that guy could have been Ron McGill but I could be wrong.

Pretty sure almost anyone anywhere in TX might be included under the SETX "umbrella" at this point. San Augustine is in and Tatum is almost in now. Hence my post. Get it?

My comprehensional abilities are more than fine, thanks.

No, I really don't get it.  Are you contending that the
College Station area as well as Aledo are considered to be part of Southeast Texas?  Just answer yes or no and then i'll understand more about your comprehensional abilities. ;D

As far as this site and discussion is concerned, yes.

Now before you scoff, realize that Iola and Anderson Shiro are definitely in the College Station area. Look it up for yourself. Aledo? It depends. Carthage, Center, and Grapeland are now included, perhaps Aledo in the near future.

Personally, I define SETX as south of 190 from Jasper to Livingston, and east of 59 and 146.
