Although capable replacements were found, it was if the Panthers were just never able to get untracked as they barely missed the playoffs. The 2012 version will be a mix of old and new...the old...thirteen starters return from the 2011 squad....the new...a new head coach in the person of Marty Murr, who comes over from Crosby. He will be joined in the backfield by plenty of running firepower as senior Justin Artis (1st team all district, 110 carries, 1283 yards, 15 TD in 2011) returns to key the Anahuac running game. Also contributing will be senior running back Martice Henry (86 carries, 444 yard, 3 TD in 2011) and sophomore running back Blake Moulton. Senior receiver Porter May (2 catches, 28 yards, 1 TD in 2011), sophomore receiver Josh Cooper (who also may be called upon at quarterback) and senior tight end George Lee will comprise the Anahuac receiver corp. They will all be operating behind an experienced line which will feature seniors Jaime Rivas, Chris Sweat, , Hunter Bergeron, Chris Smart and Josh Winslow.[size=14pt][b][u]2012 Defense[/u][/b][/size][size=12pt][b]Defense: 3-4Returning starters: 6[/b]A number of returnees will keep Anahuac opponents out of the end zone this year. Up front, Sweat and senior lineman Kendrick Whittington will be joined by sophomore Taun Huynh. They will be joined in the front seven by senior defensive end Nick Kirkwood and sophomores Moulton and Chris O'Bannion. Artis, Raymond and seniors Brittan Borwn and Mike King will man the Panther secondary.[size=14pt][b][u]2012 Key games[/u][/b][/size]Anahuac will start off their 2012 season by hosting Hardin-Jefferson on August 31st. They'll begin district 10-2A-I play by traveling to new district foe Kirbyville on September 28th.
