Of course, the big watch was on scoring machine Justin Twine who made an assault on the Texas high school football record books. The stable of running backs...Jake Merchant, Jontavion Simmons and Wesley Evans will work to fill the shoes of the graduated Jordan Twine. Senior wide receiver Luke Byley (1st team all district) will again be the primary receiver in a corp which should include Marcus Bell, Terrance Weathered and Dawson Kregor. The Hornets also return an experienced line in returning starters Dillon LeBlanc (2nd team all district), Michael Pressley and Ryan Baggett (honorable mention all district). They will be joined by Kenneth Lowe. Sophomore Trey Harris will join junior Roy Joe Harris and Bell on the defensive line. Also look for Lowe to see time here. Baggett will be joined by sophomore Rudy Weaver (2nd team all district) at linebacker. Merchant, Simmons and Evans will also see time at linebacker. Byley (honorable mention all district) will anchor the Hornet secondary along with junior Cade Procell, Twine, Weathered and Kreger. The Hornets will host new district foe Anderson-Shiro on October 12th to begin District 12-2A-II play.
