[size=12pt]A somewhat new face will appear on the radars of current 21-5A teams as the Deer Park Deer move from 22-5A over to 21-5A.  Coach Chris Massey and his men went undefeated in district gaining the 22-5A district crown.  With 10 starters back from that team, the Deer are intent on showing that the change in district will not affect their standing.

Returning starters: 4[/b]

Junior Connor Means and senoir Caleb Martin (4-5, 27 yd in 2011) will fight it out over who take over the Deer offense in 2012.  Senior running back Noah Cano (9 carries, 73 yd, 1 TD) will get the lions' share of the carries in 2012. Senior receivers Eric Luna (1st team all district, 42 catches, 756 yards, 7 TD), Jacob Hickman (7 catches, 88 yards) and Josh Rutherford (2nd team all district, 21 catches, 347 yards, 2 TD)return to form the Deer Park receiving unit.  Senior Matt Cauley will anchor a front line which will include junior newcomers Tony Lopez, Blaine Medland, Ahmed Ashmeed and Colby Malone.

Returning starters: 6[/b]

Deer Park will return six starters from the 2011 squad.  Senior defensive ends Stephan Gehringer and Eric Willms (2nd team all district) will control things up front. Senior inside linebacker Tyler Butterfras (1st team all district) and senior Vince Vega (2nd team all district) will be joined at linebacker by senior inside linebacker Bumker Scruggs and junior outside linebacker Tim Espinoza.  Senior John Lopez and junior Cody Page will anchor the Deer secondary which will at times include senior Jeremy Halling, juniors Hunter Cink and Gunner Herrera and sophomore Eric Benevides.


[size=14pt][b][u]2012 Special Teams[/u][/b][/size]

Senior Zane Gonzalez will handle both place kicking and punting duties in 2012.  Rutherford, Cink and Luna will be the primary kick returners for the Deer.


[size=14pt][b][u]2012 Key games[/u][/b][/size]

On August 31st, Deer Park will travel to Clear Lake to begin the 2012 season.  Port Arthur Memorial comes to town on September 28th to begin the 21-5A district slate.  The Deer travel to La Porte for a game against the rival Bulldogs on October 19th.  Deer Park closes its 2012 regular season at Galena Park North Shore on November 9th.

I thoroughly enjoy my time on the site.

I will admit, it would be more enjoyable if some wouldn't make such silly and stupid comments.
