I think the athletecism theory ( at least at the high school level) is not nearly as important as some think it is.  Being the fastest player on the court or the highest jumper assures one of very little.

Of course it will, but unless the other 4 players are also in the same category, there are ways to counter the speed/quickness of a single player.  My experience suggests to me that most of those endowed with that much quickness tend to not fully develop that IQ of which you speak because the quickness has always separated them from everyone else.  I am speaking, of course, about junior high and high school players.  Nederland and HJ would seem to validate my theory, don't you think?

Then you are predicting that, this season, under the "new changed times" that the only teams who will do well are those that have relatively high speed and quickness?  I guess I am definitely a dinosaur because I thought skill and IQ still played a major part in high school basketball.  I guess we will see pretty soon and, of course, I will be checking back with you so you can validate/substantiate your "changed times" contention.  Gotta go.  Am sending an email to Princeton to tell them they are going 0-30 this year.  Also gotta tell Paul Pierce to retire because he is in "the new times" where he cannot compete.

The biggest thing working against the Beaumont schools is the fact that Nederland just isn't scared to play them anymore.. Nederland is used to not only beating them, but going on to winning district or sharing it.. The group returning is full of seniors who can compete with anyone when the stakes are high enough.. They got plenty of weapons, tons of skill, all the experience, yet they are still suppose to be a notch below central, and even ozen...

He won't admit it, but deep down, he knows Nederland has a good chance for a 4th straight District Title.  8)
The difference between our team from last year is experience and confidence. Last year, we returned 0 starters, and only 2 players who came off the bench who contributed (English and Weisbrod). This year, we return 4 starters and 5 others who played Varsity last year. Expectations are high in Big Ned, and I believe these kids are up to the challenge.
