Hemphill/Huntington/Woodville Scrimmage Thread/Post comments here!

Tonight in Woodville at 7:15 p.m. (Varsity)

For what it's worth teams looked pretty even overall. Huntington/Woodville live quarter tied 1-1 but Woodville had an int that most likely would have been returned. Huntington/Hemphill tied 0-0. Didn't stay for Hemphill/Woodville. Woodvilles running back was real quick, hemphills quarterback is obviously a good athlete and Huntingtons young QB showed some promise in his first varsity "action" (glorified practice). All defenses looked pretty good and tackled pretty well being the first scrimmage. Anyone else who was there I would like to hear your thoughts.

woodville tightened up against hemphill they scored 2tds to hemphille 0 overall decent tune up lots of mental  mistakes and miscues need to be much more physical to soft.

I wasn't there so are you saying Woodville scored 2 tds in the live quarter or just during the whole scrimmage?

Yes just the live quarter. There were more TD's scored in the other parts of the scrimmage but it's harder to tell what's going on at that part.

I have since been informed by a "Huntingtonite" with more football knowledge than myself that Huntingtons INT would have went for a TD as well, but that's a matter of subjective opinion.

How did Hemphill look?

Total TD tally of the whole scrimmage, not including Int's.

Hemphill was much improved but still has a long ways to go. Twine looked good minus the mental errors and what seemed like careless passing into coverage throughout the whole scrimmage. The aggression and football mentality have improved tremendously. The coaches have done an awesome job down there so far. Overall, a productive scrimmage for the Hornets.

Huntington looked improved as well. The only faults they had were that they seemed to have way too much trust in that QB's arm than need be. He threw a few good passes but also threw three or four interceptions. RB looked improved as well with great quickness and a little speed as well. Defense looked great at first but seemed to slack off a bit towards the end when fatigue began to run its course. But overall a decent evening for the Red Devils as well.

Woodville had a lot of mental errors but still seemed to dominate both teams in the live quarter action. Huntington had one long run on a Woodville mental lapse. The talent is definitely there for the Eagles. And as for the question that was their line: the coaching staff down in Woodville has done a phenomenal job getting them ready for this season considering what they lost. That line, along with being three-deep at every backfield position, and an always stingy defense led by one of the best linebackers in SETX is gonna be hard to beat. I expect them to make a lot of noise in the toughest district in AA.

That's a matter of opinion, and since that won't be proven this year because Woodville and Jasper don't play, that opinion means absolutely nothing. And yes, look at that district and line them up with this one, then tell me which one is better.

Not against each other no, but Huntington had one long run against Woodville. Hemphill did not score in live action.

denial is the first symptom of failure. coaches follow talent. go ahead and admit the talent is just not there.That is the reason your coaches left. yall are to slow to handle the top teams in district. you have nobody as quick as twine. we have to much speed even for him. big slow and young wil not cut it in this dictrict.
