I think like everything else, this was not so much about really wanting to be a member of Augusta but the "need" to break the barrier for the sake of breaking it so that no group can get together and say hey we are limiting our membership to a certain criteria.  It is arrogant no doubt to say we are an excluding people, but even more arrogant to try to force your way in!!  Hey, if someone doesn't want me, I in no way want them!!!  JMHO!!!
