It appears that Wiesbrod is about 6'4" and he's very strong and crafty to get the ball in the hoop.  IMO, he will need to work on the outside game to be ready on the next level.  I've seen him push the rock on a fast break, so I would say that his ball handling skills are ok.  You Mention kids playing post now and they won't be playing it in college?  I think it's about what helps the team.  If you are the tallest players on your team,
you should be in the paint banging...  Unless you are a freak of nature or you're able to play the guard positions better than those little 5'6" players.  Then, by all means, do what you do.
Good points! Here is what I see often. A young kid grows fast and its just natural to want to put him on the block. And usually , he never works on improving his game (on their own time) to get better. So he graduates from high school with no "point forward" or guard skills because now, he's ONLY 6'5" or shorter. I see too many kids playing in the moment and not preparing for the future. Hmmmm?
I understand what you are saying. Not sure the last time you saw him play, but he is NOT simply a block player. Not gonna give you too much info or you might figure out how to stop him.  ::)
BD3-I would pay good money to see you try to 'stop him'. Maybe Nash can get a charity event together, an the highlight will be BD3 attempting to stop all the post players from the area!  ;D
You game BD3?  8)
Two words! Brandon Green. Wish he had stayed  at Ozen.
Ohh wow!  Where did he go?  He was a good looking sophmore
from last year that was comming into  his own!
North Shore High.
Ohh.  I see.  Playing his last 2 years with Dad.  I thought that's what Trey Green was going to do last year.  I wish him luck.  Ozen will be losing a lot from this kid.
Yep, the one player in the district who could contain Nederland's post to 4 points, 2 rebounds, & 0 assists  ;D
::) ::)

There can be more players that can do that.  All you have to do is "impart that secret knowledge" on them.

Isn't North Shore one of Catman's teams?
Yep.  When Big Sandy isn't doing good, he'll claim that NS is his team....  untill I call him out on it, of course.  8)

Wiesbrod will more likely play baseball at the next level.
Wiesbrod good kid good fundamental basketball player that i enjoy watching.  But as far as next level for basketball....maybe at a juco or a division 2 or 3. and i wish him all the luck in the next level.

Some people on this site have an emotional attachment to a team and/or player.  YOu gotta see through that to make an accurate assessment of an athlete.

Sometimes we spend too much time talking about the "next level".  There is something to be said for being a real good high school player and enjoying it while you can.  In fact for those few kids that are good enough to play at next level some find that HS was alot more fun.

Good call Bearcat. This is a HS basketball forum, and the original poster asked about the best HIGH SCHOOL post players in the area. Colton plays Post for Big Ned unless a taller kid comes along. I have no emotional attachments to Colton, other than he is a good kid who has a tremendous work ethic, and the fact that he plays for the Dawgs. I've watched him play a lot of basketball, and he's only started one year at the Varsity level. MOST kids don't get noticed until after their Junior year, so I think it is VERY premature to say what type of college player he will be. Whoever he signs with will be fortunate to have him.

I agree 5gallon. The kid picked the wrong sport for now. His dad knows it , but can't get him back where he belongs. Time will tell. I just hope time doesn't run out on the young man.

Dove, who are your projected starters for Ozen?  How big is your post player?  I know yall are fast and shoot well but will yall be able to guard other 20-4a bigs?
Ozen is in a situation with a lot of young players. And I mean babies! Maybe 3 seniors and they will be busy changing diapers this year and trying to keep the crying to a minimum. Lets see, Ozen should have  6'6", 6'6", 6'4", 6'5" 6'3" and another 6'4". Thats about 6 bodies to wear down most of the posts in 20-4a, and several fouls to give as the Panthers wear down the opposing post with sore arms. As far as a starting line up, its up for grabs because this team will be so young with very limited varsity experience.

Very natural/normal thing on the emotional attachment- even for those who claim they are don't have one and are totally objective.

Thanks. Ozen may be young but with 5 players over 6' 4" they have some height for 20-4a!
Could be wrong Bearcat, but I think he's jackin' with us. I'm all but certain they do NOT have 5 players over 6'4". If so, I don't believe they will be on the floor playing much. Their guard play and quickness will make them dangerous. Regardless of their lack of Varsity experience, they will have plenty when district play comes around.
