Fitz beats #1 ranked West Monroe

Recommended Posts

ex Liberty Panther quarterback Daniel Fitzwater led his school (Calvary Babtist Academy) to a win over West Monroe the number one ranked 5a team in the state of Louisiana. I don't have his overall stats yet but the last thing West Monroe radio announcers said was "well this Fitzwater kid...well...he's just the real deal folks" so I'm assuming he was a force.

3 touchdowns against the #1 5a team in LA, but Huffman's Townley is better than him? LOL ...just had to rag on the Falcons for that one because from day 1 i tried to tell them they weren't even in the same league, but Liberty only sent 3 pass rushers at Townley while they blitzed us all night, Huffman had the superior coaches not the superior quarterback but i was an "idiot" for thinking the 6ft6 219 pound Fitzwater was better than Townley... once again LOL

Umm..... I don't believe anyone from Huffman ever said that Townley was a better prospect than Fitz. They put up similar stats and Townley has a better surrounding cast, but we all know which QB will be playing D1.

BTW no I don't judge someone's talent based off a passing camp that was the only thing I heard about him, But here are some stats. In the only game where Preston Towley was the undoubted starting QB he threw for 199 yards and 1 td. That game was in the playoffs vs a PNG team that went three rounds deep. He has more yards and tds in one game than fits has in 3 vs playoff teams.

Let me ask this, with weapons like the mighty Jones, Mosley, Vaught, and all the D1 offensive line talent, why didn't Fitz get it done in Liberty?  He's obviously a good player.  What happened?

Answer:  supporting cast wasn't what you guys contended they were.

Funny thing is, the same guys (except Vaught) are the ones you are hanging your hat on this year to get it done for Liberty without Fitz!!

Get my drift??

Exactly I never said Townley was the better prospect. Townley played better that night, put up similar stats in district, and deserved to all district over Fitz. Just like Scott from Coldspring was all district over Fitz as well, but do any of us think Scott is the better prospect? I don't think so.

Btw your second quote doesn't even fit the argument lol.

Only one's still there are jones and molsley. Jones had all the receiving yards (60) that night and he was hurt at the start of the 2nd, score was 14-7 when he went out. Point?

Jasper (1-0), would jump out first as Terrell Cuney would score from four-yards out to make it 7-0 visitors. Back would come Liberty as they would drive 60-yards on four plays with quarterback Hudson Standish connecting with Jordan Jones on a 16-yard scoring strike. The big play of the drive was a Standish 36-yard pass to Jones.

Standish finished the game with 60-yards passing. Jones caught all four passes for 60-yards to lead the Panthers.

HM. 1st or 2nd team, at the end of the day the college programs could care less. They don't care what you did in high school. They look at speed, size, and strength. And at the end of the day if they think you can play they will offer.
I agree, and also at the end of the day none cares about whether or not your QB goes to college, only that he won or lost and made the playoffs or did not make the playoffs.
You can not blame a season on one player. Huffman has better supporting roles than liberty does Fitz was a great QB on an average team, where as Townleyt was a better than average qb on an above average team.
Fitz's stats in district
93-143 65% 1641 16td 4int

Townley's stats in district
142-212 67% 1728 21td 6int

That along with Huffman making the playoffs is why Townley was AD and Fitz was HM.
Townley had a better completion % (close); Townley had more yardage (again, close); the TD to Int ratio is also very close:  so where is the argument that Fitz should have been selected ahead of Townley?
There isn't one. Some of the Liberty fans feel that because Fitz is the better college prospect he should've been first team AD. Well the coaches go by what they see and stats not who the better prospect is.
So Once again Townley played better that night and arguably played better throughout district, which is why the coaches voted him 1st team all district, but everyone knows that Fitz is the better college prospect.

Falconfanatic ive been reasonable with you these past few months and put the trash talk aside, but said " we found out who the best qb in the district is" that statement means you thought Townley was better. You didn't say better performer on that night, you just said "better" and im just saying and have been saying he's not better. IDC about supporting cast, IDC about coaching or anything the arguement was Fitz has always been better, and to answer ol dude up theres question he didn't get it done in Liberty because the coaches couldn't use him like his new coaches can. Point of the argument you guys did say Townley was "better" now what you meant by that is all your head i cant tell you what you think but i can show you what you said, Fitz was better in lib hes better in LA and he'll be better in college

Townley was all 1st team all district because his stats were better and because he won. If winning was the only thing that mattered then Scott would've been 1st team.

Townley was also a pretty damn big part of the team, we saw what happened when he got hurt in the Navasota game.

I don't know who is better out of the two QB's I can say that my wife is from West Monroe if you have never been there they are real sreious on their football and I am niot sure I have ever seen a team make it that many times to the state final but IMO if you lead your team to beat them you have real talent.
I have never seen Friz play and I like Townley and I am glad we have him But i think he could scramble better.

Huffman could take 5 different guys and put them at quarterback and they can put up stats, I haven't seen yall play to much but against Liberty it was slants and throwing in the flats which isn't very hard, and a great defense, so IMO Fitz is still better and should've gotten 1st team. Fitzwater makes a lot more difficult throws, but he wasn't let loose in Liberty he had progressions where he eyeballed receivers, in college that and apparently at his new high school, that won't happen. This year will be living proof of part of that theory Liberty goes from 7-3 to 0-2 at the moment so without Fitz they are hurting, Townley is still at Huffman so the rest is un testable but i think we would all agree Huffman would get 2nd without him, they will get first with him, that's my first prediction of the year, but either way he isn't half of Fitzwater.
