Mr. Buddy Garrity Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012
Wow. What a show of determination by Nederland. Coming out and having four turnovers in the 1st quarter would've shut down a lot of teams but they fought and fought and came very close to a win against an incredible Angleton team. I think going for 2 was absolutely the right call. It was raining Cats and Dogs out there tonight! (pardon the pun). I'm very glad I made the long drive, it was well worth it. Very proud of this team, they deserve a top 10 spot in the polls. Good luck wildcats.
as far as the AP Poll NED shouldnt drop no more than to #9 or #10 depending on where they put former #6 Amarillo which lost to WF Rider who was like #12 i believe.
biaplayer Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Wow great game tough loss, boys from across the tracks were listening to the game courtesy of legacy sports, while we were getting thrashed lol.
PhatMack19 Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012
any stats?
They still aren't up yet. Maybe have to wait until Nederland gets back home.
PhatMack19 Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012
What happened to Pryor and Hopkins?
I would like to know as well. Hopefully the bye week gives them time to get healthy.
bulldawg64 Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 what a effort tonight dogskeep the heads high you allplayed one heck of a gametonight win or lose.

coach pops Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Heavyweight slugfest. Turnovers were the difference. Spot a top 10 team in the state 13 on turnovers and come back to tie or go for win takes a good team. Got to agree with the 2 pt attempt on the road in non district. Really hope Pryor and Hopkins are not too bad. Two weeks to heal and prepare for a good Vidor team. Good game. No shame in losing this game to Angleton. They're the real deal. Hope these two teams can get far enough in the playoffs to give Ned another shot in one that counts for a lot. Congrats to Angleton.
outanup Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 What about DelFiero? He didnt play in the 2nd half either.....
ispeakjive Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Rankings don't mean much, but I think Nederland proved they belong in the discussion with teams that could have very deep runs in the playoffs. An 8 point loss on the road to the #3 team is probably a pretty good barometer of what they are capable of, barring injuries and turnovers.
bobbymcgee Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Good game. Hope everyone is ok.
phunter308 Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Brock has hyper extended elbow should be ok. Hopkins has strain quad and Del Ferio has what appears to be a concussion. Looks like all should return within days. Tough game with to many turnovers and penalties. Dogs got to clean that up to be able to beat the big boys.
Razor Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Just got home, but wow, what a game! Really proud of the Dogs...they could have easily mailed it in after 4 first quarter turnovers, but that just isn't in the makeup of this bunch...they will fight you...hats off to Angleton...they are very good, but I cannot say that I was surprised by that...I expected them to be dang good and they did not disappoint...I would love to see them again in the playoffs. As for the injuries, Pryor has a hyper-extended elbow, Delfirio has a concussion...not sure about Hopkins...sure hope these guys can heal up in 2 weeks for the district opener...it's time to defend the crown!!!And going for 2?? Absolutley the right call in a non-district road game...I have zero problem with that at all.Congrats to both teams...really good, exciting game in miserable weather, but fun as heck to watch.
Brubaker Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Going for 2 was the ONLY call any coach with half a lick of sense woulda made, end of story. Sounds like those who made the trip had a little early trick or treat action

AggiesAreWe Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Almost nailed this one.My prediction was a 32-31 Angleton win.
liltex Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 I almost nailed it,the only Ned picker in the elimination pool to go all in ;D
dme1111 Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Great job Dogs!!! Very proud! Should be a good one against Vidor! Still think we are in the top 8 in the state.

Angleton coaches were mad that he scored, bc it actually gave Ned :30 to try to tie up the game.
thedogs1987 Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 Great Job, Dogs! So proud of effort, resilence, determination.....Let's get ready for 20 4A...here we come.Go Dogs!
