Didnt WOS have a hard time with Vidor already this year?
they did,i don't know how they are so quick to forget...vidor drove the fields twice for 2 touchdowns on that number 1  D,  they scored a 80 yard touchdown off of a screen on vidor. i will say this they are fast and physical but vidor's defense is better
Vidor fans on this board are this year's L-Train.  Vidor is good, but some of you made way too much out of the scrimmage with WO-S.  It was a SCRIMMAGE.  A few of your fans are trying to create a "win" out of this practice.  Nothing about that practice is parallel to a real game.  No game planning by coaches, lots of extra substituting, trying out players at different positions, JV players being used, no turnovers can be returned for TDs (in which WO-S had one nullified), a starting tailback and our best OL not playing...yeah, I'd like to see what it would be like in a REAL game.  If both teams could play at full strength with a week of coaches preparations, THEN we would see who would win.  But since it ain't gonna happen, dream on about your "win."

I'm more interested to see if you can 1) beat Nederland, 2) win a district title outright, and 3) play some consistent defense for an entire regular season and into the playoffs.  You've had ONE notorius year, but it takes a lot more than that to gain the respect you're demanding.  You're not there yet.
O'boy, here's another football rocket scientist popping up. FYI genius, we've been pretty good since '08 and this will be our 3rd time to make the playoffs. Lumberton had one exceptional group of kids. During the course of that time, WOS has failed to beat us in any scrimmage, I know because I've to all of them. We're free this Friday, I really wish we could play the game and shut your pipsqueak school up. To quote Aerosmith,"Dream On".
I'll repeat...you've had ONE exceptional year.  You went a few rounds deep in the playoffs last year.  Before that, just making the playoffs was quite a miracle in Vidor.  You still haven't won a district title all to yourself and haven't shown the ability to stop anyone with your defense in district games nor in the playoffs.  The Pirate program has improved much from decades past (kudos to Coach Matthews), but you still have a lot to prove.  Still, according to a few of you, there’s a cockiness and demand that you be given the same respect of teams who’ve done much more than Vidor’s history shows, just like the L-Train fans of a few years back.  And since you’re so proud of these little scrimmages, where you love to keep score, WO-S “won” last year’s glorified practice 20-17.  It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to point out your errors, even though you’ve been to all of the scrimmages.  But, we don’t care…it still means nothing…it’s a SCRIMMAGE.

You’re starting to make a Nederland fan out of me.

Can you read with comprehension?  My point was not about WO-S, but that Vidor has much to prove this year, and that starts with trying to beat Nederland and not hanging on to a little scrimmage as proving how good they are.

I don't think the Pirates are looking for respect from you, they will just keep playing one game at a time and doing what they do, which so far this season is win football games. As for the defense it took them 3 deep into the playoffs last yr. I think that's pretty consistent, can they beat Nederland we'll see in 2 weeks, and a district title is not out of the question. And as for Vidor fans being this yrs. L-train, well with one post you put down two schools so I guess that makes you feel better about yourself. Respect of teams on this board is not what matters, respect is earned on the field of play.

Yeah, I agree with that, and I said so earlier (I didn't start this thread).  We only beat two of the bottom teams in that distrcit and one playoff contender.  A little late to the party, but that's OK.

Exactly...and you might try some of that therapy on handful of your Vidor bretheren who demand so much respect...MORE than has been earned so far.  You're obviously bothered by a perception of a lack of respect from me about Vidor's team.  I do respect what Coach Matthews has done there and last year's run was fun to watch.  But, according to a few of your pals, the Pirates should be given much more recognition than has been received so far...see previous posts about getting no love from Dave Campbell, setx posters, etc.  I'm not convinced (yet) you have a good enough defense to carry you on another hot streak of wins through the playoffs, but hey, prove me wrong.  They gave up too many points last year.  Since you've become a better program starting in 2008, defense has been the weak link in Vidor's armor.  Same thing with a district title...go win it.  It hasn't been done yet.  20-4A looks to have a down year, so the opportunity is there for the Pirates.

As for the L-Train fans from year's back, that was hilarious to watch.  Sorry if you've forgotten what that was all about.  It's not about putting down their fans, but watching the hype and air quickly go out of that balloon.  Hey, Lumberton is the team that woke us up in 2000 on our way to a state title run...they outplayed us in a scrimmage that year.  Does anyone from Lumberton remember the "score", in case there are scrimmage statisticians who want to know?  ;)

Vidor better worry about playing Nederland in two weeks..that will be your first loss. I hate to tell you, but the Pirates better worry about Central making the playoffs over them. Overall, they have a better defense than the Pirates. Vidor has the better offense. Your big problem is that if ya'll ever get down by a couple of scores with that offense your not gonna come back on the better teams.

Vidor is a really good team and SHOULD make the playoffs with that being said. Please don't call a school pipsqueaks when you have had a handful of winning seasons and a lot of dismal ones and we've been in the upper echelons for the past thirty years.
Yeah they really looked like a great defense when they let us score twice in a srimmage with the starters in. Look at the stats my man. We'll see who has the better defense.
Stats from a scrimmage should and do mean nothing. Don't get me wrong I would love for Vidor to win. I root for any Orange County team and I think Coach Mathews is one of the top coaches in the area. I just don't see the overall speed in the Vidor defense that some teams in the area has. I look for Vidor to make the playoffs but don't count out Central. They had an excellant D and if their offense can get on track could be big problems for someone. I think the winner of the Vidor/Central game will make the playoffs, but it wont be a gimme game.

I didn't mean the stats from the scrimmage. I meant the stats from the three games we have played versus the stats from the nederland games. We'll see who's defense is legit come two weeks from now.

Mustangs 24a district CHAMPS?

If that's so, and if things go as planned next week, EC will be the 21-3A Champions.  8)

I can see the winner of nexts weeks game being the winner of district. But as for who else goes is a question, I know lumberton prob won't win a game, if they do it would suprise me. Png will be lucky to beat lumberton and lcm, hard for me to say that but it is what it is. This season will be a hard one to swallow. First time in a while that I had two full rows of seats that were empty. I don't see vidor as being another Ltrain. They finally got a group of kids that fit and accell in coach mathews offense. I think every school sooner or later gets a group of kids that just has that special mojo. One thing is for my ndns this year it looks like dr evil stole pngs austin powers mojo lol my question is what are the pirates gonna do when the asian invasion graduates? Who is gonna take the helm? I am impressed with vidors "defense" they were real scrappy last year and seem to be starting where they left off.

That quote makes about as much since as this thread.

I think that year in and year out WOS is not scared to play anyone and normally they have tough non district schedules, but this year I think that even though they are playing 3 out of 4 4A non district opponents, I don't think the schedule will prepare them for the playoffs.  I think PNG is WAY DOWN, I think LCM wins 1 or 2 games, and Central is 2-14 in there last 16 games.  It is early in the year but these three teams have a combined record of (1-7).  I do think Central has a chance to make the playoffs, but it very well could be Ned, Vidor, Ozen, and Livingston.  I think Jasper is definately a playoff opponent that can make some noise this year, but IMO they are a year away.  The district DEFINATELY doesn't help WOS either.  Not to be disrespectful, but if WOS could enter there JV in that district they would finish 3rd behind there varsity and Silsbee.  I think that WOS has the best chance of anybody in SETX to win a title this year, but I do think that this is one of the few times where there 10 game schedule doesn't help them in the long run.  JMO
