Montgomery vs Caney Creek Predictions

I'll take a very talented and extremely fast Montgomery team by 28 at least. I'd honestly be surprised if Caney Creek can even get on the score board , they're slow and really sloppy even though they do have a win it was against an even sloppier Porter team and lost to New Caney who is a parenial team to battle for the basement in their district.

Montgomery    49
Caney Creek    7

Too much speed and talent, I actually went and watched Caney Creek play Porter, they didn't actually pull away until the 4th quarter, and both teams looked sloppy creek will have to play a perfect game to even keep that margin. Coach Bolfing won't call the dogs until the late third quarter for the simple fact that Montgomery HATES Caney Creek. If it weren't for dumb penalties and bad conditions last week Huntsville wouldn't have been within 28 either.

I wasn't going to make this thread just because its cruel, but since you did I'll go ahead and say Montgomery 42 Caney Creek 7. The backups will get a lot of time, and depth isn't as good as the past few years so I wouldn't be surprised to see CC score a late TD. And by the way, we don't "HATE" CC, that's reserved for Brenham. Hating CC would be like hating the special kid in school. It's just wrong...

I would have to say yes to the statement that we hate Brenham but at the same time Willis and Caney Creek are in there, I played for Montgomery and we played Caney Creek when they were actually good. They just talk A LOT of trash and as far as sportsmanship goes, they have NONE, so I'd be looking for a lot of unsportsmanlike conduct calls and personal fouls, especially towards the end of the game. I'd also like to add that the only reason Montgomery hates Brenham is because they've never beat them, but at least there's some respect in that rivalry.

Well when I played CC, they just quietly took their beating and moved on. As for Brenham, yeah it's lopsided record wise but its been within 7 points like 5 years in a row now. Plus it's essentially been the District Championship game for 4 years, so that's what has made it a big rivalry.

Im just going based off what I witnessed when I watched them play Porter, and they must have had a culture change or something before you played them, they are the main reason I began wearing a visor my sophomore year. I'd look for Montgomery to get that W this year, Brenham is down the game is in Bear Stadium and Montgomery has a very talented young team that seems to be gelling now. If it weren't for the rain last week Huntsville would've been down by 28 after the first half. The run game and deadly down field threats for Montgomery this year are gonna be too much for anyone to handle in district this year especially if Josh Bolfing keeps progressing as a passer and game manager like he has so far.

Montgomery 49

*A Brenham fan's point of view-
As for Brenham and Montgomery being rivals....  I don't think that's possible untill Montgomery can beat Brenham at least twice.  I don't mean that in a disrespectful way at all, but we just view the game differently.  We don't like Navasota....  Even Waller & Huntsville, because they all have taken something important away from us.  Brenham/Navasota is just a down right nasty rivalry, that is extremely physical and very chippy.  I wish the 2 teams still played but we don't.  Waller beats us about every 3rd or 4th time we play, and runs their mouth a lot.  They have kept us from undefeated district runs and beat us while we were ranked a couple times, which has made it that much more intense.  I'm not big on Brenham & Huntsville being rivals cuz in my life time, I only remember one meaningful loss to them.  We were undefeated and they came into Cub Stadium, and took our district title with a 21-0 win.  Other than that, most of the recent games havn't been close. (Though we have played the Hornets for a long time.)

W/L column doesn't decide whether or not a meeting between two schools is a rivalry. If Brenham had blown us out year in and year out then no I wouldn't consider it a rivalry, BUT the game is close every year and both schools would consider this a rivalry maybe not like the Waller - Brenham or Brenham - Navasota rivalries, but if you ask any player coach or fan they would most likely agree that it is.

I guess we just have different opinions of a rivalry.  I'm not saying we don't consider y'all the biggest game of the year, cuz we do.  What I am saying, is I think a rivalry needs to go back and forth.  Lately, our games have been very close, but the Bears need to get a couple wins over us, and we need to develop a little more of an intense history before I consider it a true rivalry.  JMO

I believe the baseball/softball programs have taken the steps to make it a good rivalry but the Bear football program needs a few wins to make it one. Winning will bring the respect not just from Brenham but from other programs also. We are winning on a consistent level with average competition but need that next step.....

I couldnt agree more.  BTW, we have lots of respect for Montgomery, I just need to see a few Bear wins before I classify it as a rivalry.

    • Virginia has same day voter registration. A person can literally walk in to the voting location, register and then vote. So the premise that Virginia might be stopping people with a legitimate right to vote is nonsense. From what I gather in the news report, assuming that the ones I have read are correct, the people that were removed, filled out a drivers license registration and marked that they were not an American citizen. Could the person have made a mistake bychecking the box incorrectly? Although unlikely it is certainly possible. That same person who was removed can go into the same voting location where he would have voted and again, complete a voter registration and then vote.  That went into the Supreme Court’s decision.  If such a person votes by registering on election day, he fills out a provisional ballot. Provisional ballots are not originally counted and or not counted unless needed. For example….  Statewide there are 500 provisional ballots cast. A person wins the election by 4,000 votes. That would be no need to count the provisional ballots as it will not matter. Then let’s say there are 5,000 provisional ballots cast in the election. One candidate then wins the election by only 1,500 votes. In that case, the election could definitely swing on those provisional ballots. The state will then investigate each person to make sure they live at the correct address listed and that they are American citizens. If these things are correct, the vote will then be counted. Safe Harbor is not untillll…… I think December 17th this year so there will be six weeks to verify the provisional ballots if needed. The purging of the names of people who checked a state form saying that they were not an American citizen, will not stop that same person from voting.
