Total BS.

44 played his heart out and had a great night. To somehow insinuate 44 didn't make enough tackles is ridiculous. The offense lost the ball too much and the special teams made mistakes. 44 was stellar.

I count 15 total including assist. Only 1 or 2 for loss. His angles cost him some big plays. Kid looks the part, aggressivness is definately there. Good speed and enthusiasm. Linebackers should not make tackles 10 to 15 yards down the field, thats a bad angle. If they do, they shouldnt get credit for those tackles. Their plays are made within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage on either side. He got blocked 23 times where he could have made a play. He took bad angles at least 8 times, missed 5 tackles, 1 facemask (not called), 1 horse collar (not called), and 7 cheap shots (which some got in the way of him making plays,). Hj's 1st touchdown was right at him... I'm sure he played his heart out, but definately room for improvement. Great night? I guess thats according to how you measure a great night. HJ only registered 13 solo tackles, the other 74 were all "gang" tackles.

Bashing a player should not be allowed here. "7 cheap shots"? you have some nerve to post that. Shame on you.

44 is a good player, very aggressive. Just the way I like mlb's.  Only advise I would give is to make impact on game by knockout hits and hustling to ball ( which he does).  But don't go out of your way to take out knees and ankles.  Sometimes it comes back to haunt you.

Blaming the rest of the team is not the way to build unity.

Thats not counting the illegal chop blocks while he was on offense. Watch the film, your the one that got on here and asked how he did. He looks like he is going to make a good football player, but for you to get on here, ask a stupid question and when you didnt get the answer you wanted ,bash the rest of your team and then say "this number" played his heart out, well, I think you asked for it... You put his number up here, I didnt.

Really illegal chop block??? I watched the film too and didn't see any illegal chop blocks on either side of the ball..what I did see is illegal hits in the back and HOLD on the HJ side, dropped passes that were called completions for HJ and the list goes on and on.  PLEASE illegal chop blocks need to watch the film again!

Your post are getting comical. When our defensive ends are engaged up top with your offensive tackle and your slot comes in and hits our DE in the knees or ankles, thats a chop block or a crack-back, and its illegal.

I haven't seen any game film to validate or invalidate some of this information but I do agree with some of the angle of pursuit comments.  I watched him move up and engage the lineman when he doesn't need to.  He could do a better job sliding down the defense before moving up to fill the hole that the running back is going through.  Engaging the lineman to early keeps him from giving better outside support.  He is certainly a force to be dealt with inside and with better reads he could have alot more stops behind the line of scrimmage.  I think he does a good job when he drops into pass coverage reading what the backs out of the backfield are doing.  He read the screen pass pretty dang well and put a hit on the running back immediately after he caught it.  I would assume Russ Sutherland is addressing these issues and he will improve each game.  He may not have needed to give that type of support outside at Pearland Dawson.  As far as his play on the offensive side of the ball, he is only in his second week learning the TE positon.  All said and done he could see lots of attention at that spot as well.

Cut blocking or chop blocking as you called is NOT illegal in Texas.

Basically the cut block rule is if you are a lineman and lined up within 7 yards of the center, you can cut block in any direction relative to the ball. You can't cut from behind the defensive player, obviously. If you are outside of the area seven yards from the center, you can cut block, but not in the direction of the original position of the ball (crackbacks). Same deal for receivers and backs who line up outside the tackle box, and for players in motion at the snap. There are some details but that's the basics of it or as I have been told.

I don't have a dog in this fight but a chop block, blocking someone below the waist while someone else has that player engaged, is illegal!!!
I totally agree! You also can not block a player below the waist on a turnover.. from what we were told at the WOS-Jasper freshman game. Something I didn't know before.
I agree, but that isn't what I thought he was saying.  I thought he was saying that the tackles couldn't just drop drown in a one on one situations.  I may have miss understood.

I think what he is talking about is the illegal block when the tackle is engaged with the DE and the recievers come down and cuts him. Now that is illegal its called a high low and you can't do that at any level or any state
Actually I asked the question of how many tackles he had because his name was called quite a bit.  I didn't see the film just the game.  Maybe you need to read a little closer before you type some smart a$$ stuff about someone starting a post and not liking the answer.  It wasn't a dumb question....If I had game film I wouldn't have asked.  It was a very simple question that required a simple answer...15.  Instead I got a simple minded answer.

Not just a simple minded answer, but a paragraph long verbal assault of a EC player by BEDELMON.

18 ) The bashing of any particular coach, player, referee, etc will not be tolerated. This includes issues involving their personal lives, coaching/playing style or performance, past experiences, etc.

The above quote was put on here by ECBucFan. He didnt get the answer he wanted so this was his reply... Anyone that has kids playing for EC should take offense to this answer. We had a kid limp to the sidelines on an illegal chop block and you say this is stellar? If by watching the film and "critiquing" a kid is against the "forum" law, then I sincerely apologize. And like I said in my earlier post, the kid looks good, and has all the attributes of being a good linebacker, but there is still room for improvement...
