I've read all of the post and most people seem to think that vidor has an edge on D. Why? could someone explain this statement or opinion.
I've seen both teams play once vidor against bridge city and ozen against wedtbrook. both defenses were good. But as var as an edge Im lost. #23 for vidor is a beast and # 1 from ozen is the MVP both defenses better be ready for a hard faught game. My vote goes to ozen by 7.  PLEASE EXPLAIN THE EDGE

Vidor defense was there strong point last year. It what got them 3 rounds deep into the playoffs and they return 8 players from it, including the defensive MVP from last year.
Same can be said about Ozen there defense is what carried them 3 rounds deep in the play-offs.. Ozen 14 - Brenham 10.. They as well have 6 defensive players back... The Panther team speed is what is giving teams problems, so when they can hold a team like Central to 34 total rushing yards with there def thats saying alot
Please man. Don't try and compare defenses. Yes you held central to 34 rushing yards but we held Sante Fe (a team with a better record than central) to 24 TOTAL yards. Yes yall have a good defense and yes yall do return 6 and that is something to talk about but, and no offense, i don't think you can compare your defense to Vidor's defense.

I think Ozen is going to surprise Vidor...

Ozen 21...Vidor 20
I thought so too, but then I remembered how bad Ozen looked against Stephenville and I changed my mind. I then said it depends on what Ozen team shows up, but then again come to think of it Vidor is for real and has proven that all year.

My question has yet to be answered Why does Vidor have a defensive edge on Ozen. Vidor 8 returners held santa fe to 24 yrds. Ozen 6 returners( noticed D1 talent) held the jags to 34 yards.  Both are very good units But still no visible edge fo vidor. If you are going by last year then you better change you mind. Ozen scheme seems to fit the type of players they have very well. They put on a good showing against westbook and from what i read and hear central as well.

Vidor's defense was tough, but they had a lot of trouble with the speed and pass attack ( you should get yards on pass interference calls on Vidor).  As far as offense goes, stick the pressure to them and that QB will get rid of the ball and the result will be some pick 6's....  ;)

I'll stay with my original pick ....Ozen wins

Ozen is certainly capable of beating Vidor - but, after the loss last week to Nederland - Matthews will have the Pirates ready.  Vidor defense will need to contain Ozen right from the start and not let them get out to an early lead.

Vidor by 14.

Are you saying Matthews didn't have them ready to play us last week?  Come on, Matthews has them ready every week just like every other coach. The better team wins on Friday night.

I did post my PREDICTION for the Vidor vs Ozen game, maybe you need to work on your reading and comprehension skills, you think... ;)  Just because it's Vidor/Ozen thread doesn't mean that nobody else can post on it IN REFERENCE TO TOPIC.  Ha ha ha, just look at all the Vidorians that get on Nederland threads and stretch it to OFF TOPIC comments.  Get over it all ready!  I'm guessing your still sore about Friday night. Anyways, thanks for congratulating us on our win.  ;) ;D

No.  I simply meant that Matthews will not allow this team to hang their heads on the tough loss to Nederland.  He will have them ready (once again - as he always does) to face another tough district opponent.

    • naw, maaaaybe 7, definitely not 8 deep.  today im avoiding sitting by #10s parents, had to move away yesterday.   "put my son back in jub, put my son back in"  and then crying on every little touch of someone.    lets ball out today ktz!
    • Very close game until the 2nd half (mostly the 4th) when Orangefield came unraveled. Worse defensive effort I have seen out of the Bobcats in three years. This team has to get back on D and quit getting beat over the top when pressing. Offensively, non ball handlers continually turn it over and their shot selection is poor. Basic basketball, such as: defensive hustle, boxing out, and taking care of the basketball are the areas the Bobcats need to work on most. Whitmire will get them on point, but he shouldn't have to coach effort at the Varsity Level.  We'll be at McNeese this Friday night at 6pm.
    • I don’t benefit from it, that’s not my area.  But the average cost to imprison someone is around $15k per year (on average in the US) and capital cases cost somewhere between $1.5-$3M with over half being overturned or reduced to life in prison anyway.  These numbers may be inflated since the last report I read but I’m sure it would be on both sides and higher on the DP side if anything. So what’s the point?  We feel better because we got to return the favor on someone (hopefully) who committed a heinous crime?  And I don’t know I can say we have “complicated” it. Which appeal should we cut out?  Our justice system has a pecking order and we have higher courts for a reason. When we are about to impose the ultimate judgment, should we cut steps that other cases have to save a buck?  Or do we not pay for an indigent person’s experts at the trial court level because it’s too expensive? Or do we just lock them up and throw away the key (unless we later find out they weren’t actually guilty, in which case we have a key and a life we haven’t unjustly ended) and save a ton of money?  Seems to me to be an obvious solution but I’m more of a pragmatist.
    • 1 thing for certain. Coach Earned 3 more years to figure it out lol
