no-look Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 Anyone old enough to remember him playing at Broaddus? Man among boys..lol....One of my favorite memories was when we had a tourney and Broaddus was paired with a Houston school. I was sittting close to the Houston school and could hear them laughing about playing a little 1A school...They were going to bust the clock on them.....their mood soon turned somber after the game started...lol.....Dove, you would have agreed that it was real basketball... ;D
outanup Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 Had a buddy that went to Broddaus (spelling?). He told me many stories about Teagle, and I followed him in the NBA. He was a stud....
AggiesAreWe Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 I saw Terry a few times at the state tourney with his Broaddus team. His 9th, 10th and 11th grade years were the best Broaddus teams, his senior year they made it to the tourney but was beat in semis.Terry was a man among boys, that's for sure.
no-look Posted October 3, 2012 Author Report Posted October 3, 2012 Either 76 or 77 they finished 36-1......We got lucky and beat them in the Lufkin tourney. That was their only loss....I think they beat us by 25 or so later that year.

Snook comes to mind too.
AirForce84 Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 I played against him as a high school senior back in '78. Playoff warm-up game in Silsbee. Silsbee won 82-80 but man that guy could go!
AirForce84 Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 There is a picture of him in the Silsbee '78 yearbook in the opening tap against then 6'6" Dexter Wallace (1st team all state). Teagle is a full foot and a half above Dexter with his hand on the ball. He had mad hops too!
AggiesAreWe Posted October 3, 2012 Report Posted October 3, 2012 Legend has it that someone asked Teagle if he could jump high enough to get a quarter off the top of the backboard. Terry said no but put a $5 bill on top and he would get it!Teagle had well over a "40 in vertical and the guy was already '6"5.

BADSANTA Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 Man I meet Terry the other day and actually bought a piece of memorabilia he had up for auction. A signed 16x20 team photo of the Golden Warriors from Houston Sports Connection. Small world man.
shooter Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 My brothers played against Terry Teagle. When he was in San Antonio where they live, they would get free tickets to the game. A story of a small town boy making it big, how great. Oh by the way, my brothers team I am certain was the one loss on their schedule that year.
