Attention All Football Fans in SETX:

The Lumberton Raiders were robbed Friday night somewhere between the times of 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. The burglars got away with only one thing. A very large train. It stands about 10 ft tall and is said to be very loud when it gets going. Unfortunately it has not seen the tracks in some time. Anyone who can help with the return of the L-train (nickname for it) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The Lumberton Raider football team.

Insider Edition - The Hood Gazett

The Port Arthur Memorial Titans have been ranked all year based on what they did last year.  That # 1 ranking won't hold up long, as they will host a REAL 5-A football team this Friday in the Galena Park - North Shore Mustangs.  In an interview with Port Arthur's Head Coach, Stump-Broke has let the cat out of the bag.  Coach, in an unpresidented move, details the secret weapon that has allowed PAM their previous years success.  Coach admits they were fresh out of their secret weapon during the BMT Central game.

Image depicts PAM players getting ready for the Channellview game last Friday.

Barbies Hill wins against the winless Porter Spartans headed into their by-week. Knowing that they will lose their next two games, they decide to go ahead and prepare for New Caney.

BANNED!!

Bear hunting outlawed in Orange County after Friday night's game.  It seems that the bear's numbers dropped severely for some reason on Friday night at 10:30 pm.  Full story in Sunday's  Orange Leader.

4 peat at Da Butch halted.  Instead, Jags give  the Indians a 3 hit combo (also known as a 2 piece /w fries).

Ozen survives Collins, Lions, The Lady's ear bleeding play by play, and avoids the stadium light poles.

Ok, who brought that Lego train set on the Pirate Ship?

Nederland just found out that this species of bears went into hibernation a little early.

For your information, North Shore is back.  PAM, now you know that (in the Bobby Bouchier voice)

Bruins find out the hard way that it's the  annual rut season.  The Deer is a little bit more aggressive than originality thought.

              Entertainment Weekly

Before auditioning on the X Factor last night, the three sisters from Barbies Hill, Texas known as "Sister C" were given some advice by Simon Cowell. Simon says..... " girls, you sing pretty good but while you're on stage you seem over confident and unapproachable. In other words....stuck up. Try to fix that."

When the girls were asked later about how they took Simon's advice, they were quoted as saying, "well like, our uncle Smokin Baby told us we are like better than everyone else and like, we should hold our [s]heads[/s] noses up because we are like the greatest and like how our town is the NYC of the trinity river basin!"

After the audition Simon reportably remarked, "looks like they will one and done."

Weird News Report
Dayton,Tx. At a local football game, a rabid fan known as "Liltex" wears a Bronco on his head. During Friday nights game the Bronco hat began moving back and forth on his head in what some people called a provocative motion. It was said that once the Bronco quit moving on his head, the fan asked his friend from a rival town "smoking baby" for a large cigarette. ;D

    • I'm not sure who you are Separation Scientist, but you and I are on the same page entirely.  BH has not played tough, physical football for 4 full quarters in years (before the Gage hiring).  I feel it has 99% to do with how we work in the offseason.  I know we lift weights and spend a great deal of time lifting those weights and doing footwork drills, etc., ......but are we hurting and learning to fight through the pain and get to that next level and continue on?  I firmly believe in quality over quantity.  Do the coaches work the kids until exhaustion and then continue pushing them?  I know the answer.... they do not!  We practice in an indoor air conditioned taj mahal even when the weather is great.  It is much different than what the BH offseason program was in the nineties and early 2000s....and the programs of Katy and PNG of today.  We worked through multiple agility, plyo, mat drills, bleachers, hill training, weight training circuits until we were puking and after we finished non-stop motion for 50 minutes all groups would meet on the track to run a quarter for time.  If you didn't make the time you had to run it again.  We did this every day and would routinely test strength and speed (included a mile run for time...which hasn't happened at BH in years...yes, big boys can run a mile) ....and 90% of all athletes would improve in both strength and speed throughout the offseason.  This all took place in 4th period of the school day, and it got results.  We didn't have any big, sloppy dudes because they couldn't make it through the offseason (they lost weight and became hosses.... or quit) and our numbers were streamlined to only include those that really wanted to be there and put in the work.  One thing that didn't happen is we didn't have kids lay out injured on the field.  I do not remember many, if any, ever getting hurt or missing a game.  I contribute that to how we worked in the offseason.  Until we get the program back to this way of thinking and working, we will continue to be mediocre.  We have twice the athletes and numbers today than we did then so it would be fun to see the results.  It can be done.  Not sure it will be done.
