Texfan Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Who is going to challenge the top 2 this year.
Cat22 Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Should probably come down again to OF, HJ, and HF. I think the district overall will be more competitive than in previous years, so I would not be surprised to see any of the other teams in the mix. Also if OF and HJ have long runs in the volleyball playoffs they both may have a slow start but should be ok by the time district rolls around.
5GallonBucket Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 both HF and HJ lost key starters this past year......HF especially. HF won't have any size.
hjhawks Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Hj has lost key starters every year.... the guards they have coming back may be the best group they have had in a good while..While the race is always open each year, 39-1 in the past 4 years and 30-0 in the last 3 years speaks for itself about replacing key starters.Don't think volleyball run will affect basketball..
passingthru Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 HF lost 4 seniors, but will have alot more size than last year. Unfortunately only 1 sr who played any significant minutes last year, so VERY young......

Riding Solo Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 It will be Orangefield, HJ and HF, not meaning in that order.
Texfan Posted October 28, 2012 Author Report Posted October 28, 2012 HF seemed to be young in VB is the same true for basketball.
bleachersitter Posted October 29, 2012 Report Posted October 29, 2012 5 returning varsity - 2 seniors and 3 juniors
Bobcat1 Posted October 29, 2012 Report Posted October 29, 2012 Orangefield has a lot returning. With a new coach, new system, they are going to be pretty good - if they were to go deep in the playoffs this would be the year to do it!
Dove Hunter Posted October 29, 2012 Report Posted October 29, 2012 This district on the girl's side is unable to do well in playoffs and for the life of me I can not figure out why. Everyone on here talks highly of these players and they have not had near the success that the boys in this district have had. It is something that is never discussed but if you are Orangefield and HJ(which one 30 straight district games) do not have a regional finals appearance that is hard to believe with all the passionate voices on this board. Maybe the kids are not as passionate as the adults
Bobcat1 Posted October 29, 2012 Report Posted October 29, 2012 I said IF they are to do so, this would be the year because after this year OF's girls basketball will be losing a lot of talent with its seniors.
5GallonBucket Posted October 29, 2012 Report Posted October 29, 2012 It will be HJ AND OF at the top easily. HF lost significant seniors last year. Only 1 significant senior and 2 significant juniors for HF are returning and they have no significant size coming back.....maybe some JVers. And one of those juniors seems to have lost heart for the game. SO i will say the 3rd spot is up for grabs this year.
bigsoftballfan Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 How will Buna do this year in 3a?
Texfan Posted November 2, 2012 Author Report Posted November 2, 2012 Buna should be in hunt. Top 2 teams are what everyone figures, but fight will be for 3rd place. Everyone talking HF and they lost alot I thought. Girls didn't seem to mesh with coach and that group seemed to be HF best chance. We seem to beat the younger grades on a regular basis, with just one or two good players in each class. Heard if not all BB probably shouldn't play in new direction. HF numbers I didn't think would let that work, smaller schools have to try and get the best athletes to be on every sport.
hjhawks Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 If you have followed this district for the past few years, this score should not be that much of a shock.... Congrats Buna on the win..
Bobcat1 Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I haven't seen the Orangefield girls play this year, but this does surprise me. I know the talent has dropped off in the last few years, but I always thought this group of seniors would be pretty good.
